A stay as lovely as any I have ever had before made better by taking the air and traditional cream tea in the beautiful surrounds of the castle. If traveling for business don't be put off by the fact that this is a castle. It represents better value for money than any other property in the vicinity ...
We absolutely loved our stay. The house was well equipped with everything we needed and was set up perfectly to accommodate our children as well. Our kids absolutely loved waking to see cows and bunnies out the window each day. Can't wait to come back and stay again! The owner Elaine was excellent ...
Another great stay at Saxton Grange, can't fault it excellent facilities on a lovely family run farm in beautiful countryside.
Reception staff very pleasant. Bathroom very tight for space.
Always enjoy staying at the Wood Hall Hotel and Spa, I will never tire of this Hotel and it’s amazing staff
The standard of cleanliness was not up to its norm as previous stays.Having a quiet breakfást was impossible owing to children playing on the table football which has been put at entrance
West Yorkshire is a popular destination for holidaymakers because of its famously diverse landscapes of river valleys, moorlands in the north and majestic sweep of the Pennines to the east. It's also home to many great industrial cities such as Leeds, Halifax and Bradford, which have become centres for the arts and entertainment. The rolling countryside between Wetherby and Leeds makes a perfect setting for a stately home, and that is exactly what you'll discover here at Bramham Park. When you're staying at a West Yorkshire hotel in the area, Bramham Park is an excellent destination for a day out.
Bramham Park is a stately country mansion built by Robert Benson, 1st Lord Bingley, in 1698. He was a leading politician under Queen Anne and you can meet his likeness in person as soon as you enter the hall. The house was damaged by a fire in the 19th century but was beautifully restored in the 20th century, with some additions. Of particular interest is the west front of the building, whose staircase resembles the one at Fontainebleau just outside Paris. This is a regular theme of Bramham Park, as the stately gardens which surround the main building are also in the classic French style. You can enjoy them at all seasons of the year from your hotel in West Yorkshire.
The gardens are a real delight, whatever the season. Their tall beech hedges, cascades and ornamental canals are reminiscent of pre-Revolutionary France and Marie Antoinette, without all the unfortunate revolutionary consequences! There are grand vistas between Egyptian obelisks and the inevitable Classical temples which were in such vogue at this period. If your West Yorkshire hotel or guesthouse is anywhere in this area you should make a point of visiting Bramham Park for the day and enjoying its tranquil atmosphere. Consult the website before coming, as various events are held in the park on different dates, such as the Leeds Festival in August. It makes an enjoyable outing from the city and there are plenty of interesting things to do and see here throughout the year.
