B&B punching above its weight

Posted 28-Sep-2017
Pros: Attention to detail.
Cons: Er ... biscuits in room on check-in replaced when eaten.
Smart and welcoming entry hall, small but well-appointed room (loo/shower en suite), complimentary toiletries and the makings for coffee & tea. Jorge affable and helpful. Location is good - 10 mins or less to beach and to town, but not near parts likely to be noisy. No lift.

Comfortable and very convenient so good value.

I stayed 5 night for a conference at Bournemouth International Centre - Room 6 for single occupancy. The B&B was very convenient with a corner store, Pub and restaurants 50m away and the BIC was about 500m downhill. The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable and the room had good facilities for a B&B, including en-suite with shower, WIFi, a modern TV and drinks facilities included a small fridge. It had a single club chair but no desk. One wall socket included 2 USB chargers. Building entry was by keycard and room entry by coded lock. There were many other B&Bs and Hotels in the street but it was very quiet at night. I didn't take breakfast (£8 extra 8.30-9.30) as I was at the BIC by then.

Great staff, good location free parking

It was a great location not far from the beach or the convention center. But be warned the hills in Bournemouth can be quite steep. It was quiet, a little small on the room size but the staff was amazingly helpful!

Spotlessly clean, comfortable and welcoming hotel.

Posted 08-Sep-2017
We have spent a few days at Shirley's hotel for our honeymoon. We were welcomed by the amazing Jorge who had us in stitches and told us all of the local attractions to go to. The room was lovely. Bed comfortable, spotlessly clean everywhere. Our towels were changed after two nights and the shower was great, plenty of hot water and good water pressure in the shower. Plenty of amenities in the room including a fridge which was a great surprise. Iron and ironing board were also available for use. Can't fault at all. Breakfast was also great. Perfect sized English breakfast and also lovely fruit and croissants. Would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely go back.

It was the first time travelling alone with the kids & our puppy to Bournemouth & I was recommended Shirley's B & B by a fellow dog walker but did not really know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised how clean & hygienic it was. The location is spot on literally down the road from Bournemouth Pier & the town centre so we didn't need to pay any car park charges. As a matter of fact I didn't even move my car from the car park for the 5 days I stayed there as there are many restaurants within walking distance. The couple who own the B & B are absolutely lovely & made us all feel very welcomed. I will definitely return again :)

This is the third time we've stayed at this B & B. Would definitely go again. Very welcoming staff and an excellent breakfast at a very reasonable price.

Awful customer service, terrible owner! Dont Stay!

Posted 04-Jul-2017 on Hotels
The room seemed okay, location was okay, shame about the poor management of the hotel and the poor door entry system. The rooms had office key code locks on the door, which another guest had unfortunately double locked at 4am causing the owner to drill through the door frame for 20 mins! The owner showed no remorse once I confronted him about the scenario, he instead was very argumentative and wasn't apologetic at all after ruining my nights sleep. I was only after an apology for using a drill at 4am, I was instead confronted with comments about my TV in the room being on loud and that I owe the hotel extra for checking out later (even though the cleaner said it was fine as they were cleaning the lower rooms). Luckily I booked through Hotels.com who has been a pleasure to deal with, and after they received a load of abuse from the owner, they have compensated me and de listed this hotel as an option.

My b&b isn't de=listed and I don't hand in money after the problem happen on Saturday and stayed through to Sunday without any complains. I received a phone call from Expedia asking for compensation. Sorry but I don't.
