We stayed at Rancho Tecate, as a family friend had their wedding on the grounds. We decided to make it a weekend get-a-way, and stay over night.
Although the room itself was fairly nice, it definitely did not warrant the price-tag it came with. We seemed to be the only one staying on the premesis, which made it nice and quite, but almost too quite. We're hoping it was because it was off season.
Upon arriving to the building where our room was located, the windows of most of the rooms either had sheets hung up to serve as curtains or old 1970s draperies with white crumpled vinyl backing; making it feel like something straight out of the movie Psycho. No chance of getting killed in the shower though, as there was no hot water to take a shower. Without a hot shower, I decided on a hot cup of coffee to wake up. Unfortunately, the coffee maker was broken. The "free WiFi" was spotty, and we were not able to stay consistently connected in our room.
The only saving grace of this resort is the food at the restaurant on the grounds. Everything else was sub-par and creepy. I would not recommend staying here.
