You will enjoy all the modern comfort of a fully self-catering holiday house set in a calm lovely hilly countryside on a family owned winery. The wine maker and owner Jean-Louis (bi-lingual in English) and Nola (his Australian wife) will be delighted to share their passion for Bordeaux and its region and will be happy to help you make your holidays a most enjoyable experience. You can relax on this 11-hectare property, surrounded by the gardens, vines and forest of Château la Gontrie. Less than 50 meters from the holiday house there is a large swimming pool area (secured for children) with a shared pool of 12m x 6m\*. This haven of peace is only 25 minutes from Bordeaux. Description of the holiday house: Le Relais : 2 bedrooms – 2 to 4 guests The house Le Relais ‘s façade was built with the typical sand stone of Bordeaux which is part of the main building facing West. This bright and colourful house has all the assets of a modern house, free Wi-Fi internet access, sofa, TV comfortable beds, well equipped-kitchen. The ground floor consists of a large living room and dining room, a separate kitchen, a laundry and a toilet. On the first floor a landing leads to: a parental room with a bed of 1,6m x 2m and a twin bedroom with 2 beds 1m x 2m. An extra bed for a child under 10 years old can be added in the twin bedroom on request. Each bedroom has its own ensuite (shower, washbasin and toilet). Each bedrooms are equipped with blackout curtains and good quality bedding to ensure you the best relaxing holiday. The Relais’s garden is equipped with a barbecue, a table and garden chairs. Staying on a family owned wine property you will benefit from a free English visit of the vineyard, winery and tasting of our 6 different wines. This visit and wine tasting takes about 1hour and a half. Passionate about their region, Jean-Louis, Nola and Andréa (their daughter) will be very happy to share their local knowledge and their favourites places with you to help you discover the best of the area. This is an ideal destination for a family holiday or to share with some friend in a spacious and self-catering holiday house. The beautiful green surroundings in the middle of the vines will help you to relax and experience life on a family Bordeaux winery. In the grounds there is table tennis, a volley ball area and swings for the children. We also provide free bicycles to ride to our local bakery (800meters) for the croissant lovers or to go and get some oysters (from the Bassin d’Arcachon) Sunday morning in the village. Le gîte est vraiment bien conçu et confortable. Tranquillité assurée au milieu des vignes. Très bon accueil des propriétaires et dégustation assurée par le propriétaire viticulteur. ##### Michel B. The house is very comfortable, spacious and everything we needed was on hand. We were made to feel very welcome, and Jean Louis provided plenty of useful tips for visiting the local area. Lovely setting among the vineyards, and we got to enjoy their delicious wine. It was a very relaxing and fun week, and we made very good use of the swimming pool! ##### Chris B. Very peaceful and the swimming pool was lovely and clean. After busy days exploring the area it is a wonderful relaxing location surrounded by vineyards. Andrea and her family were amazing and very helpful. giving great information for Bordeaux and surrounding area. Wine tasting was very informative and delicious. The gite had a well equipped kitchen, bed linen was crisp and clean. Beds were very comfortable. The shower rooms were small and compacted, there was a lack of shelves in shower room. Towels were small and not plentiful. Luckily we had brought some from home. We had a few minor issues but all were dealt with and sorted quickly. We had a lovely relaxing 3 days. ##### Anne B. The property we stayed in was wonderful and was everything we hoped it would be. The estate on which the property was situated was fabulous and being a working vineyard extremely interesting. The pool, surrounding gardens, communal areas and facilities were first rate. We have no complaints to make other than the holiday was too short! The area around the house gardens and pool was perfect for days when we didn't feel like going further afeild. Nola, Jean-Louie and their family were extremely welcoming and we really felt at home during our stay. A car is a must have to stay here as lots of good day trips are within a short distance. The tour of the vinyard and tasting was a real treat and we especially enjoyed the cupboard of wine in the house! I would highly recommend this as a holiday for anyone. ##### Ilona P. Jean-Louis und Nola haben uns herzlich empfangen, waren immer für uns da und hatten hilfreiche Tipps für Unternehmungen. Uns hat es in dem Haus an nichts gefehlt. We had everything we needed indside and outside, including baby gear (high chair, bed, bath) and very friendly hosts. The area is very nice with lots of things to explore - easy to go to Bordeaux (we recommend eg Mirror d’eau, Cite du Vin and the museum CAPC), St-Emilion, Cadillac (lunch or dinner at L’Entree Jardin), Sainte-Croix-du-Mont, and definitely Dune du Pilat. ##### Pernille B. It is a lovely bright and clean space, well equipped and comfortable. Our hosts Nola and Jean-Louise couldn’t have been more helpful and generous with information on local things to do. The wine tasting we had with Jean-Louise was very intesting and we enjoyed drinking his wine during our stay! The pool was a great way to cool down and with 3 other families staying in other accommodation at the Château there was the opportunity to socialise as well.
