Stayed in Peace Resort only 4 nights, but this was a long awaited relaxing holidays before going back to work:) Great location-walking distance from the fisherman's village; good food reasonably priced, very polite and nice staff, great little bungalows with all you need. There are so many other great amenities, which we didn't have the time to use, as it was a short visit. Gym, pool and massage by the beach looked good.
Stayed at Zazen on recommendation of a friend. We loved the location, garden villa and the superb service. Secluded but not isolated so able to walk to other restaurants and bars. The breakfasts at the hotel are amazing and the service from the staff outstanding. We would have no hesitation on staying here again.
We stayed at the Mantra in 2013 and decided to return on a recent visit to Koh Samui. We stayed for 10 days in a Love Suite Villa (room 0222). We picked the Mantra on experience. It was different from the usual chain hotels. It offered something else. The facilities are great. We needed a good gym and they have it. There is a sauna and a steam room (although they are never working when we visit). The pool has amazing views of the villages below and Koh Phangan in the distance.
We enjoyed our stay very much. I would point out that the hotel has recently been purchased and is going through a change. For those that have been to the hotel before, all of the quirky character is being taken out. The staff do not seem to enjoy the experience anymore. The smile has gone along with the old owners. The hotel is due to be refurbished. We got the impression that all works had been put on hold until that time. Our room really needed a repaint. The shower had very little pressure and we had to make a request for the air conditioning unit to be fixed due to noise. The beds are so uncomfortable. We had to request additional blankets just to lie on.
Please don't get me wrong you still get value for money at this hotel. I hope the new owners bring back some of the bizarre character when they do the refurbishment - this includes the games room/pool table next to reception. Market the hotel for those without children. The pool and sun bed area isn't big enough for kids screaming and playing.
First class service. Staff couldn't do enough for you. Lovely location, right on each and short walk to Fishermans Village, withdrawing shops, bars and restaurants. Overall Hotel lovely and would consider another break here.

Lovely hotel, friendly staff, excellent location. Right on the beach, so picturesque views whilst having breakfast. The room was smaller than expected, but was still clean and comfy and was ok for using as somewhere to sleep and get showered, which is what you want when exploring Thailand.
We got 2 x single rooms. Its not too bad. Breakfast is a bit overpriced and there was no bacon available.
Shower water goes between and under the doors. Steams up the small bathroom and no switch for the vent if there is even supposed to be one. They changed the shower head quickly for us which was good but the water keeps going hot then cold then warm. The pressure also was not great compared to the 2nd room we had right next door. We got Wifi for the whole 10days which was good but my brothers one kept disconnecting all the time.
Air-con is very noisy when going to sleep.
The rental services there aren't worth it. They charged us 1200baht for a jeep for a day which is only worth 800 is nearby places or a brand new car for 1000baht just down the road. Scooters were also 300baht a day and just 50meters away you can get them for 180baht a day.

This upscale beach on the north shore of Ko Samui is three kilometres long and conveniently located near the pier for ferries to and from Ko Phangan. Visitors have their pick of 20 or so lodging choices, typically of the bungalow hut variety. A short drive from here is the Samui Monkey Centre, where trained monkeys fetch coconuts from palm trees, and Wat Phra Yai, home of the 12-metre Big Buddha statue.
