We had an incredible stay at Zazen! Every part of the service from staff was faultless. The hotel is quaint, incredibly clean, spacious rooms, and the decor is gorgeous throughout. The breakfast is a highlight in itself. Being smaller it felt so relaxing and you were never fighting over facilities with other guests. Loved the beach. We did a few day trips to other parts of the island we were looking at staying, and left knowing we had chosen the best spot in Samui. Close to the Fishermans village, and dinner at Zazen's restaurant is a must! We also did the cooking class which was fantastic. Would highly recommend if you're looking for a truly relaxing break. Thanks zazen!
Stayed here for 2 weeks for our honeymoon. It's a lovely quiet resort and would highly recommend. The only noise would be from the various frogs which reside in the small ponds in front of the bungalows! The resort is in a good location in Bo Phut directly opposite the beach, Fisherman's Village and The Wharf which is a new shopping village (5min walk after crossing semi-busy road). There is a night market in the Fisherman's Village twice a week which I would highly recommend for tasty street food, souvenirs and cheap cocktails (very lethal...). Good communication prior to arrival arranging an airport transfer for us also. Approx 15min taxi ride to the airport.
On check in the staff were really helpful and arranged scooter hire for us at a great price. The advantage of hiring through the hotel is you don't have to leave your passport with hire company and can just hand keys back to reception when finished with scooter - plus scooter gets delivered to you! The room was a really good size, always clean, large bed (a little hard but most beds in Thailand are) and the air conditioning worked well - which is a must!! Two complimentary bottles of water were provided per day. Breakfast was really good with a varied choice. Omelette, scrambled egg, poached, fried egg etc all made to order by happy staff - and really tasty. The hotel has two pools both clean and large. Location is brilliant on beach with lovely outlook - it is walkable to Fishermans market either along beach (20 mins) or along road (15 mins)- well worth a visit (walking street is every Friday evening). Plenty of restaurants nearby.
We got 2 x single rooms. Its not too bad. Breakfast is a bit overpriced and there was no bacon available.
Shower water goes between and under the doors. Steams up the small bathroom and no switch for the vent if there is even supposed to be one. They changed the shower head quickly for us which was good but the water keeps going hot then cold then warm. The pressure also was not great compared to the 2nd room we had right next door. We got Wifi for the whole 10days which was good but my brothers one kept disconnecting all the time.
Air-con is very noisy when going to sleep.
The rental services there aren't worth it. They charged us 1200baht for a jeep for a day which is only worth 800 is nearby places or a brand new car for 1000baht just down the road. Scooters were also 300baht a day and just 50meters away you can get them for 180baht a day.

This upscale beach on the north shore of Ko Samui is three kilometres long and conveniently located near the pier for ferries to and from Ko Phangan. Visitors have their pick of 20 or so lodging choices, typically of the bungalow hut variety. A short drive from here is the Samui Monkey Centre, where trained monkeys fetch coconuts from palm trees, and Wat Phra Yai, home of the 12-metre Big Buddha statue.
