"centrally located "
Excellent staff and service! Very beautiful and high-end room decoration and appointments. Excellent amenities, especially for the bathroom..Excellent bedding (down comforter & feather pillows), though personally I prefer the comforter not tucked in at the bottom, and I found the blanket on top of the comforter superfluous. And though I put two extra pillows in the closet, the maid put them back on my bed (why can't maids leave things arranged the way guests prefer?). Excellent blackout curtains, but they they unfortunately don't close entirely. The lighting at the bathroom mirror could be better, and a handheld shower in the shower stall would be helpful. Though room service is fast, I missed having a coffee machine in the room or hot water kettle to make instant coffee, especially since the room service pot of coffee gets cold fast. .

"Very good situation, welcoming and comfortable"
I loved this hotel and will use it again. Felt very welcome and everything was clean and comfortable, lovely breakfast and nice staff. However, the single beds are not three foot singles and I was uncomfortable, but was changed to a lovely comfy bed after two nights of a four night stay.

"Nice Victorian hotel, very small room"
Pros: Nice Victorian furniture, a nice tea room with great afternoon tea, nice and helpful staff, close to UCL and Queen Square, close to Russell Square Station, right next to the British Museum. Cons: Very expensive, room very small with no view and little sunlight. I have mixed feelings about this hotel. Overall it was quite nice, but it was extremely expensive for what you get. I was there for business for a week. It cost USD400 a night. I would not have chosen it if it wasn't paid for by work. It cost USD400 a night. The room was tiny, with not much sunlight. Between the desk and the end of your bed, there was barely any room for one to sit in the desk chair to enjoy your tea in the morning. However, there are also lots of pleasant things about this hotel. The furniture is nice and not the cheap kind that many modern hotels use. The restaurant and tea room are nicely decorated and maintained. Afternoon tea was nice (expensive--28 GBP, but pretty standard for a nice afternoon tea in London). The tea was absolutely delicious! Great scones and finger sandwiches, though I would skip the sweet as it's nothing special. The location is good. Just a few minutes walk from Russell Square Station and UCL/Queen's Square (where my work-related business was), and right across the street from the British Museum.

"Beautiful hotel close to all amenities "
Excellent service from start to finish. We stayed for our 29 anniversary and also for my husband's birthday .. we were asked for the reason of our stay and we mentioned the reason. We were so surprised to find a bottle of Prosecco in an ice bucket with two glases and a lovely card from Anna, the receptionist when we returned to our room. We were so pleased.. it made our night away perfect Thank you Anna 😊

"Great place to stay in the heart of London"
We stayed only for a night and it was great! Very convenient who want to stay close to the attractions of heart of London. The plus is the swimming pool after long day walking or first thing in the morning. Love it. Highly recommend and hope in the near future will be back again

"Lovely well connected spot"
The Rathbone was very well situated in a charming area of London. The hotel was very nice, beds were incredibly comfortable and the staff was knowledgeable and helpful. It is situated very close to the British Museum and there are lots of shops and restaurants in the neighborhood. The tube is very easy to get around to various places and also located just down the street. Really the only downside is wifi is additional here and very costly as is the morning buffet./ breakfast.

A very clean hotel. The staff is very helpful, polite and patient. The location is excellent. The price is excellent relatively to other hotels in the area, perfect if you're not looking for a hotel with facilies but rather be outside most of the day touring the city and just returning to get some sleep. The only downside is that there's no AC in the room. Other than that it's a great hotel.

Pocket Guide: Bloomsbury, London Apartment Hotels

The fashionable residential district of Bloomsbury in central London, dotted with hushed Georgian garden squares, has drawn famous writers and philosophers through the centuries. Virginia Woolf and the Bloomsbury Set redefined the 20th-century novel here, and being the seat of the British Library and the British Museum, it was also where Charles Darwin formulated his historic theory of evolution.
