Booked a single room but when I checked in I was put in a Superior Double room for 8 people. Charged $300 more. Very angry about this.

Beautiful spacious room well keep. Lots of doors to go through to get to the room which is tricky with suitcases. But great value for the money.

good standardd - not fully happy with bed/noise

Posted 29-Mar-2017 on Hotels
We were not prepared for living in the basement, when booking a queen size bed room. The standard of the room was good, but with windows next to the lighting of the building made it difficult to keep a very warm room ventilated during the night. We were grateful for being offered a New room, although smaller, with a smaller bed. Also here noise/ventilation was an issue, this time from the ventilation on the rooftop. The staff was pleasant, polite and helpful.

Great location and wonderful staff

Posted 12-Mar-2017 on Hotels
This hotel wins on a great location and the staff - who are impeccably professional, polite, helpful and charming. It's an old building, which allows for great space and character, but also means the hotel decor is very dated. It is immaculately clean though. I had a quiet room (as requested) with a lovely view, but found the heating outdated and not very effective. It was almost impossible to reach down and turn on the one radiator in my bedroom because it was in such an awkward position. There was no fridge or mini bar and very basic tea/coffee supplies. My bed was vast, but mattress was much too hard, and the duvet and pillows were very poor quality. I slept very badly. This was disappointing because the staff there are truly exceptional, and so helpful, but you can't change a bed the way you can change a room. Did not eat there or try out spa, so I cannot comment on either. However, a good bed is essential for me so, sadly, I would not stay again. If they got decent beds in, and some good quality linen & pillows, I'd definitely return!

Good service. Room was smaller than expected. We did book superior room and I think we were given standard. As superior looked bigger I photos.

Lovely boutique hotel in great location.

Our second time here. First stay was at Buckingham next door, years ago. Ideal location near Holborn and Russell Square stations. Good room. Breakfast OK. Very helpful staff.

Excellent choice in Bloomsbury

Great location on quiet street near two tube stops. Lots of restaurants nearby. Walking distance to theatre district and Covent Gardens. A bit pricey, but good value for the location and very comfortable. Would recommend.

Quaint row home hotel

Posted 16-Sep-2016
Pros: Close to parks and restaurants and of course the British Museum is one block over.
Cons: Bigger rooms.
Location: The British museum and much of London is just south of the hotel.
These buildings used to be townhomes for the wealthy and are now subdivided into rooms. Our room was quite small, I had to hold on to the wall trim to traverse the space between it and the foot of the bed. Otherwise an excellent hotel, just remember to bring your own wash cloths for the shower.

Romantic Getaway in London

Posted 06-Sep-2016 on Hotels
Stayed as a couple. The rooms are small and so are the hallways. No air conditioning though, so know that if you're going in the summer, you'll bake. Although we just came in early September and they have a fan to use. Literally behind the British Museum.
