This vintage Barn on Old Mill Rd. which sleeps a total of 6, is a rustic, timber-framed building with an attached windmill-like structure that, on its upper levels features 2 bedrooms: on the second floor, there is one bedroom that sports a Full-sized bed & on the top floor, a set of twins are joined to make a King-sized bed. In addition, at the back of the Barn’s living space, there is also a cozy twin sleeping loft reached by ship’s ladder, & and an additional bath below it which includes a vintage claw foot tub. The Barn is sited within a gorgeous, pastoral setting on the island’s quiet west side. The building is nestled beside a large grassy lawn, where beyond it, guests can see the owner’s cottage, which is quite separate & occupied on occasion…. The Barn is surrounded by gorgeous open meadows where horses graze, & looks out over rolling hills to the distant sea where guests can watch the sunset each day from the building’s fabulous open-plan living space. The country kitchen features French doors that open out onto a small patio shaded by a lovely rustic pergola, covered in curly grape vines. Below the Barn is a wonderful outdoor shower facing west, and a shared, rustic garage space that offers guests use of their own laundry facilities. There’s a pretty pond across from the bottom of the drive, & miles of adjacent Greenway trails that will lead guests to stunning tranquil places & rocky beaches. She answered all of our questions and was a wonderful host for our time away at the Barn. The property details accurately describe that this setting is best for teens and adults to navigate due to the spiral staircases and built in wooden ladder to access the bedrooms. The main living space is filled with light with huge windows overlooking the peaceful property and two horses that come into sight as they graze through the day. We enjoyed our time here and would come back to the Barn. The walking trails nearby are beautiful. The landscaping of both the main house and the Barn did take place during our stay. This is a quirky house in an old barn and hay tower. Idyllic setting and a huge living room in the barn. Lots of charm. Bedrooms are up narrow staircases and 1 is up ladder stairs in the old hayloft so not for over 65 or very little kids but totally charming. The place leaks in the kitchen during heavy rains but we were told those leaks will be fixed in 2023 and we had only 1 rainy day so loved it. ##### Jim H. There could not be a more wonderful place to stay on the island than Peter Wood's barn. It's warm, cozy, magical...It's full of art and history.
