Good Value for the price, its an old building but that's the character of the place

    • Disliked: Cleanliness

We didn’t end up staying here as it was just so bad. Rough isn’t the word! There were dogs barking, the smells were unbearable. But what topped it off was our bedroom door didn’t even lock - it was clear to see that it had previously been kicked in and was damaged. They acknowledged all of our issues and apologised. However we are still waiting for our refund! AVOID!

    Better than expected

When we booked this hotel it was the last place available in the area. Having read the previous reviews we didnt have high expectations but ended up being pleasantly surprised. The hotel has brought a new manager Debbie in to try and bring it back up to standard and she was absolutely fantastic. Very warm and welcoming. She apologised about our room being a bit run down and explained that some of the rooms are in the process of being redecorated. The room was clean as was the bathroom. Our only complaint would be the bed wasnt very comfortable. We managed for the two nights but couldnt do any longer. We knew from the reviews that the kitchen was not open so we wouldnt get breakfast but that was reflected in the price. But there is a cafe literally across the road which did one of the nicest vegetarian breakfasts i have ever had. We would stay here again if we wanted to do one or two nights but couldnt stay longer unless we had a more comfortable bed. It is a great location. Yes it is a bit run down but it was spotlessly clean, the drinks prices in the bar were very reasonable and Debbie was a great host.
