wanted to leave straight away
Not sure who to blame for my negative stay in Blackpool, the hotel or the people around. After travelling from birmingham for 3.5 hours (for a journey that should have taken 2.2 hours but hey you win some you lose some) I think it's quite acceptable to be wearing trainers and casual clothes - well you'd think this... guests were staring at us as though they'd never seen casual clothes or middle-eastern skin in their lives. Also couldn't help but feel as though our receptionist was shy to talk to us as it was like being checked in by a robot. The couple next to us we're having a lovely greeting and conversation with their receptionist, smiles all round.
We got to our room, and to be honest, waned to just go home... the room was very small, old furniture, old bathroom with burn marks in it. The Windows looked like they haven't been cleaned for the whole 150 years that hotel has been open, so if you have a room with a view, don't expect to see anything. The radiators were filthy and ill-fitted and the "room for 2" had ONE plug socket - located on the opposite side of the room to bed. The doors were old and required a big slam to close them, so that's what you hear thoughout your stay, along with rude comments from guests like "oh gangsters stay here" - unsure where they derived this comment from, but it couldn't have been our attire as we were dressed up going for a meal. I definitely won't be returning to this hotel, not worth even the discounted price available at the moment

Dear Amanda, oh I'm so sorry to read that you felt uncomfortable during your stay. You were extremely welcome at the hotel as are all our guests. We do have a new receptionist Gemma, whose lovely but still a little unsure. Its a big job to learn, especially our IT systems and this can take time, however I would expect her to be warm and friendly and I will show her your comments to learn from. Amanda, the windows are cleaned every month but with the location of the hotel and the salty, sandy winds, it is impossible to keep them pristine at all times. I'm sorry the Imperial was not your cup of tea, and I hope you find a perfect home to stay next time you stay. With best wishes, Alison
