A little out of town but walkable.
The hotel was fine, although even though we knew we had to pay for parking it was quite excessive at £26 for our 2 night stay and this was with the discount! Our room was on the road side so extremely noisy and hot-no air conditioning and not good leaving the window open. The room was clean on arrival but the absolute minimum was done for the next day, with a dirty pillow case left in our sink! The reception staff were lovely and very helpful. It was quite a walk and uphill to the centre of town.

Hotel is very central.
Location is close to the trains, trams, buses and taxi service. Lots to do and plenty of places to eat. Will go again.

So called double bed was actually a large single so good thing I wasn't travelling with my partner. Key card had to be renewed every time I went out and came back and the room was very noisy as it overlooked a main road. Only one lift working. Overall decor and furniture old fashioned and bed not very comfortable. TV was shocking. Random channels on different numbers to what you would expect and no guide available. One good feature was the WiFi which was free and excellent. Wouldn't stay again.

Weekend trip
Hotel is situated very central, easy walk in to town. Aswell as a good location. However the rooms are very out dated, but what's to be expected for a cheap price hotel. Bed was also very uncomfortable. However bathroom was very clean. Television was not any good not many channels. However overall the hotel was clean and staff were very polite and helpful.

As i am a wheelchair user i found the access to the dinning room a little iffy A ramp is provided up the steps I'm just glad i was in my electric chair and not my propel one

Took 30 mins to queue up and check in. No toothpaste or toothbrush was provided. Asked the hotel to provide some. But was never bought to the room. Overall not very happy with the service in relation to how much I have paid

great hotel haven't stayed here since the 70's
warm reception, large quiet room, still good after all these years, the only minus was the lifts weren't working so you had to wait quite a time for the staff lift

We were kept awake by a banging noise overhead. It sounded like users of the Pure gym next door were dropping weights on our heads. Apart from that everything was pretty basic and as expected.

Lovely hotel helpful staff had a great evening meal and breakfast at the hotel one and only downside to the stay was only one lift was working but otherwise very happy with our stay there

Very acceptable atypical city centre hotel.
Clean hotel and a comfortable bed, pillows too firm for me though. Kettle provided along with tea, coffee & biscuits. Free and fast wifi. Very convenient for car parking with direct access to hotel on the 6th level of the NCP Car park and discounted rate by the hotel. Good access to walk from hotel into the city centre. I would revisit.

Great hotel
Needed a hotel for one night, centrally located close to the centre of town. Had everything you needed in the room, slightly noisy due to being located next to a main road. Breakfast was great and both healthy and cooked options, the staff were very helpful!! Parking next to the hotel which was great. I would come back again if I am in town.

Extremely small, old, dated room
Cold food on room service, unable to charge food to our room despite a card being left, a foul smell in the room, dirty, small bed and uncomfortable, TV channels were shocking and no radio function.

I have booked the hotel for 4 nights. In general, I liked my stay there. The room was very clean, no sign of dust, no unpleasant smell of dirty carpets. The room contained all essentials, including a hairdryer and the ironing facility. The staff was polite and friendly. For the 3-star hotel I got really a very good service.

Ok hotel right on a main road approach to city
Unfortunately the hotel is close to a lot of building works in the city right now as the windows are clearly not insulated (they don't seal !) you are woken up by the traffic during the night, or drills most days ! room very clean , tv appaling picture (old Philips model), shower very good . Some issue with heating as some areas of the hotel pretty cold even the radiator didn't work in the room but there was an added electric heater that was fine - staff on reception friendly. Probably needs a bit of investment

Small rooms and beds. Overpriced.
Very small room and tiny double bed. Central heating pipes creaked all night as they were expanding and contracting. Over priced for the room and bed size. Location good, only 10 min walk into town centre. Good discount on NCP car park, but call B4 parking adjacent to NCP as internet advertised £1 per day at the weekend.

Hotel.com let us down _ no booking was made
A disaster. The booking was made correctly but hotel.com never made the booking with royal Angus. We had no rooms. When we arrived they said they had, had slot of problems with hotel.com The booking was taken but you failed to communicate with the hotel as they said they had never received it. I was left embarrassed and without our three rooms.

Good location. Shame about the bed
The first room had a small double bed which was also really soft lumpy and uncomfortable. Got little to no sleep and spent more time on the floor than on the bed. Moved to another room the second night which was better and the bed was a real double. Staff apologised but there was no offer to help move rooms or any other recognition for the inconvenience.

Reasonable hotel, but area not great.
It was OK, nothing special but fine for the price. The area isn't great, right by a very busy road, but noise is well muffled. Restaurants nearby are a 5 minute walk but it is also walkable to New Street station as well as Snow Hill which is slightly nearer.

They got our rooms wrong. They didn't do anything to resolve. The power went in my room and they didn't do anything for an hour. Moved me to another room which had a very musky smell. I had to go out with friends with a creased shirt due to no power and no proper customer service.

Arrived to check in and they were not expecting me
Just as well I had my confirmation print out but it took ages to sort it out at check in as thay were not expecting me.. I left my phone charger behind and finally after several attempts got through to housekeeping who said they would get back to me.They didnt !! Phoned again, they had found it and said I had to give details to reception to get it posted and pay the postage.They could not transfer me to reception so I had to ring in again.That was over a week ago and I have not received it.All very UNHELPFUL and I have had to buy another charger !!!! They have my card details to deduct postage which is worrying.
