For the money you pay, a fantastic place to stay!

Posted 24-Jun-2017
Needed a cheap place to stay which was walking distance from O2 Academy, found this place and was a little worried that it might be terrible at £40 a night for two (with breakfast included); but was really REALLY impressed! It's a big old building with lovely period features (quite a few of which have been covered over unfortunately, probably too expensive to renovate), both the communal areas and room were very clean, especially the bathroom. The bedding and towels were fresh and clean and the room had everything we needed for a nights stay (hairdryer, large wardrobe, tea/coffee making facilities, T.V. etc), the breakfast was good and the staff were all friendly and informative. O.k. so it's a little rough around the edges but all in all this hotel was really good at providing a clean room and a good breakfast for incredibly good value! I'll be using this hotel again when attending gigs.

Acceptable for the price

Posted 13-Jun-2017
I just needed a cheap place to stay a couple of nights and this place sufficed. The room was basic and the mirror light in the bathroom appeared to have had its "pull-switch" completely pulled off so there was no way to turn it off. The TV worked, although I had to unplug it from the wall in order to use the kettle as there were no other wall sockets. The bed was very comfy. Unfortunately the windows aren't double glazed and only have wooden frames so I was woken up in the middle of the night by people shouting - the windows may just as well have been open, I could hear it that clearly. And I was on the third floor. All in all, I felt I got what I paid for.

No wifi aircon and serious noise issues.

Posted 05-Jun-2017
We stayed here this weekend, the room was clean and comfortable to a point. The duvet and mattress were good but no wifi nor aircon proved to be a problem. The lack of aircon during a warm.weekend meant we needed to open the single glazed windows for air but the adjacent streets were so noisy with races and people shouting nearly the full way through the night rendering some of us unable to get a good night sleep.

Cheap and cheerful

Posted 30-May-2017
Pros: The staff were approachable and really tried their best.
Cons: The breakfast does not have much choice - just toast and cereal really.
For the price I paid it was excellent. I would not have been happy if I was paying as much as some people paid but for a budget place it's just right. It's stuck between a council estate and an industrial estate but it's close enough to town to walk.

Pride 2017

Posted 29-May-2017
Overall a nice hotel for cheap price we paid. Nice reception and downstairs facilities. Staff very friendly & helpful. Exited lifts to 5th floor to shabby doors. Room & bathroom seemed clean enough but less so when looking closer. Main light wouldn't switch off without taking key card out of power switch. Good location for pride.

AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!

Posted 25-May-2017
Pros: NOTHING
Cons: ALL OF IT
Location: Walking distance to the center
I have no words from pulling up in the car to this hotel to checking in, to seeing the room to which we were moved to another, to leaving this hole the whole experience was testing for sure!! Curtains hanging off burn/scorch mark of some description down the curtains plaster falling off the walls light fittings hanging off carpet felt tacky and to top off the first room the ill fitted sheets and SPIDER that crawled out of my pillow when I flipped the sheets back to check! No towels in the second room the whole experience was a disaster from start to finish the only slight plus was the shower which looked fairly new but even then I didn't want to put my feet down in the shower tray! The staff were rude and unhelpful! Its a glorified hostel at its best

We are sorry that you felt that the hotel bedrooms should not be recommended to wheelchair users, and we agree. The hotel is not DDI compliant, so as many other hotels, we do not make such claims. We suggest in future that you use expedias excellent search facility to look up only hotels with the appropriate facilities.
