Hotel in need of urgent health & safety review.

Fire alarm went off at approx 2.50/55am. It appears it is a faulty system? No staff came to assembly points, no checks that residents all present. Door handles missing in fire escape. Staff told residents to go back to rooms whilst alarm still ringing - staff not interested when we questioned the danger of this. Key cards reissued without checking whose room it was. 3 to 4 staff on duty, v poor customer care, no information forth coming - when it did it was contradictory. Eventually went back to rooms at 5.30am. Basement area believed to be zoned off (to enable fire alarm to be silenced), lifts still not working and magnetic catches on doors not working. Some residents in poor health left to climb numerous flights of stairs. Acting duty manager(s) unable to resolve issues as they did not have the authority.

The hotel is perfectly situated near the railway station, the city center and the shopping centre Nice staff, large room. I would choose this hotel again for my next stay

Good for transport and shops

Pros: Staff and room.
Cons: It is being improved. Lack of good bar and dining at the moment
Location: Opposite Chinatown which I loved. 5 minute walk to the Bullring and Grand Central shopping Malls.
Easily reached from train stations. Very close to good shopping. The staff were the best of any UK hotel I have stayed. Not many facilities, but the hotel is being renovated. Room comfortable and clean. Breakfast ok. Would stay again.

A night at the theatre

We treated ourselves to a night out at the hippodrome theatre to see mama mia. Arriving from Leicester the hotel is a 10 minutes walk from New Street station. The theatre is also a short walk away as are many excellent eateries.

Comfortable room to stay in. I would prefer a bit more light, probably a dimmer switch would be better for those who dnt like much light. I would have also preferred a plug where I could charge my phone at the bed side.

Great for a short stay in Birmingham

I stayed in this hotel for a long weekend. It is centrally located near the Birmingham New Street Station, main streets in the city centre, Bullring Shopping centre, and nightlife venues. The staff were nice, and the hotel room was spacious, and comfortable. I definitely recommend it and would stay there in later visits.

Great hotel located in the very centre of the city

A very clean hotel with great staff and very comfortable rooms. The hotel is undergoing a major refurbishment (May 2016) so I imagine it will look even better once complete. The breakfast was good too with plenty of choice.

Good hotel

Convenient hotel for rail travel. Close to shops also. Staff were brilliant. Hotel being refurbished but guests were not inconvenienced at all. Will definitely stay there again.

Good reasonable priced hotel
