Ideal for NEC without the price tag

Posted 20-Sep-2017
Pros: The room was warm, comfortable & had everything I needed. Location too.
Cons: A bit rough around the edges, some cleaning not perfect, but not enough to worry about.
Location: As I only went to the NEC & the small Resorts World arcade of outlet stores nearby (on the NEC site ) I cannot comment on where else you could go.
Staff mostly very nice & helpful. The room was spacious with a large comfortable bed & all amenities. Not luxury, but nice. If I am honest the breakfast (£10 if you book day b4) was a bit naff, with cheap juices & pre-packed cereals, tinned fruit, cheap bread & part-baked rolls. But they cook nice omelettes & there are other things you can order, like porridge. Usual cooked things were OK too. Coffee & tea were good...nice to have a proper latte for breakfast! Bar Food variable & service not so good in there. I did not try the Burgundy Restaurant, but wish I had, as the 3 course Menu at a set price looked nice, with lots of choice. A la Carte stuff as well. I was going to NEC & it is very easy to walk there & leave your car parked at the hotel.

Overnight stopover

Posted 18-Sep-2017
Met by pleasant and courteous staff in the early hours. Room 249 was dated, bathroom ok, but bed was awful, could feel every spring, should be changed. TV and tea/coffee facilities looked ok but didn't use. I did not use the pool or go for breakfast, so cannot comment further on those. Would I recommend this hotel.... difficult, but would if you get a heavily discounted room and avoid room 249, I would have been very disappointed had I paid any more than I had, think it was around €50 (euros) as I booked when overseas, which is the reason I rated as ok.

Good bar and leisure facilities. Comfy room. Friendly staff. Plenty of parking. Only negative was everywhere in the hotel was hot and stuffy- had the window wide open during my whole stay.

A trip back in time

Posted 10-Sep-2017
Pros: Friendly staff and clean
Cons: Upgrade the decor and the mattresses
The room was clean but the bed was probably one of the most uncomfortable I've ever slept in. You could feel every spring. And why no plug in the 1970s bathroom sink?? The hot water was scalding hot and you had no way of cooling it down. The only real plus points were that it was clean and the waitresses at breakfast were very helpful.

Poor hotel.

Room clearly had been smoked in previously. Not nice if you are a non smoker. A tile in the bathroom fell off in the night. Breakfast was fine.

Nice hotel close to the airport.

The hotel was just fine for our purpose. We needed to stay close to BHX since we had an early flight to catch. The staff was excellent. The rooms are a bit tacky and small but clean enough. Good value for the price.

Walkable to the NEC

Posted 07-Sep-2017
Pros: Nearness to NEC
Cons: Its needs a refurb, to check the menu as service is good its the content that needs attention. Decor is really old fashioned.
Location: Airport, NEC are the main drawers - parking is fee and its essential but you can leave a car in the car park all day and until 2pm on check out day
Proximity of the hotel to the NEC is great 5-10 mins. Hotel is tired and food is not brilliant but if you are visiting the NEC then so long as it isn't raining its hard to beat. There is no shuttle bus laid on if it is and we just took brollies and walked as NEC is so warm we quickly dried out. It is very stuffy in the bedrooms have 3 out of 5 but a fan is provided and its clean and offers soft towels and bathroom stuff. Some of their bar menu is good (club sandwich) some is rubbish (Chilly with Doritos) but it did what we wanted and the Expedia discount was appreciated. Pool area is useful even if the shower within the area is pretty dramatically in pieces and hot tub surrounds are crumbling - there are showers in the changing areas and it was great to swim after hrs of walking around exhibition halls.

Tired Hotel

Posted 07-Sep-2017
Pros: Location
Cons: Update rooms
Location: Close to the NEC
Room was worn out. Everything in the room was old the carpet was dirty had to wear socks to walk on it. The mattress should have been replaced years ago! Tried to change rooms but they hadn't got another one will never stay here again.
