Ok for shirt stay
Hotel itself was ok..just wants a bit of an update and some TLC. Service in resteraunt was poor so I decided to eat at a local pub insted. Like many big group hotels,this one has seen better days.

All ok with my 1 night stay, up graded to double room! Staff excellent but one draw back was (although a very cold night) the room never really got comfortabley warm!

Convenient, lovely grounds away from the road and traffic. Friendly hotel staff. Nice to be able to relax in the bar with your dog. Comfortable rooms and welcoming. Lovely to have kettle and milk and coffee in rooms. Pleased with the space in the rooms, lovely clean bedding and plenty of fresh towels. Great to have TV in room. Lift access.

The Bankfield hotel was a very good hotel in its heyday, unfortunately this has passed and it is now a shadow of its old self. The staff a good and try to help as best as they can. The rooms are not heated, and have free standing oil radiator to suffice. The bar menus are confusing with two different copies being used. Bar prices are the same and certain wines are not on the POS system, the hotel projects two very different persona as the photos show. Two are the entrance, very nice and stately, the second is the reality of the corridor to the rooms, the bar food was very nice, with a good choice of a basic menu. The price that we paid for the room reflects the standard, pay cheap get cheap, which we can accept. Would we stay again? Probably yes but only for one night.

I had stayed at this venue before and thought it had gone downhill. The Hallway light didn't work There was no locking facility on the toilet door On our last morning, the member of staff who was supposed to be taking our cooked breakfast requirements seemed to be more interested in chatting. In the end, when asked if we wanted a cooked breakfast, it was too late as we had a bus / train to catch

Communal areas very tired looking and no lift to all first floor rooms making it very difficult to get bags up stairs. Room was in fair condition, but only a small plug in heater to warm room and bath wasn't clean. Thankfully bed very comfortable!

I was appauled at the size of the room, it was so small we each had to get ready seperately. The central heating did not work and there was no double glazing. 2x small electric heaters were given, and when i use there were no powerpoints available for device charging or to put the kettle on. Staff said they would move us, and then they didnt even when there were rooms available. Cancelled 3 night stay after the first night. A complete disgrace for the Accor Group.

The hotel is a bit tired and dated and could really do with updating. But, the bed was comfortable and clean, the hotel was quiet and it is fantastic value for money. At the price I paid I cannot complain about a thing and would absolutely stay here again.

A little disappointing...
The hotel was ok on arrival, however I was disappointed with the room: upon entering it had a stale smell and it wasnt very clean. I found two hairs in the bathroom, and the carpets did not look like they'd be vacummed. I was also missing a hairdryer. I asked at reception to borrow one and I was advised that one would be brought to my room, however this never happened meaning I couldnt wash my long hair during my stay. Finally, on my second night the fire alarm went off briefly approx 00:20am which was quite startlingly and there was no apology for the disturbance the following morning at check out.

We arrived to be met by a travelers wedding about 200 plus guests which men't they had taken over the hotel it would have been much better if the hotel had notified us and given us the chance to find another hotel and let the wedding party take over the whole hotel. We ordered dinner in the restaurant this took over an hour to be served a they could't coup with the numbers, although we where "upgraded" to a larger room the carpets where dirty the sofa was dirty the room was cold and no heating accept for a little electric heater ( no good) there was a tide mark around the loo didn't look like it had been cleaned, the lounge bar didn't have any comfy seating just dirty table chairs, although the service was good it seem that the hotel is tired and run down not what was expected at all from the pictures this is the second Mercure we have stayed in this year and won't be making the same mistake again the only real good point was that the breakfasts where 1st class sorry about my revue but was realey disappointed.

Top Class Hotel
Excellent hotel. Fantastic room with all the facilities. Huge bed. Friendly helpful staff. Lovely evening meal with a glass of wine which wasn't too expensive. Super breakfast with everything you could ever want. I would certainly stay there again.

We enjoyed our stay at the bankfield, however we have stayed at the here 10 years ago and feel the rooms need updating. We had holes in the wood near the radiators and bathroom could do with a bleach. It’s a lovley place just looking tired.

The property is well placed for my purposes and ideal for travelling along the Aire Valley. However, the room I had been given was not everything I had hoped for. The room was clean and had a double bed. The bathroom was small and shower was extremely outdated. The shower leaked and was not very powerful. Also, the shower basin was ancient, cracked, and stained, with a shower curtain that was at least 30 cms above the shower basin. When I read the instruction to keep the shower curtain within the shower, I just laughed. I wish now that I had taken a photograph to add to these comments.

The hotel and staff were ok , But what really let it down was the food , considering it was midweek and not at all busy they didng have one of the dishes that we wanted and when the food did arrive it was so bland , I would stay again but go out to eat

Stayed in upgraded room after a run down property experience pre Covid. Disappointed again. The upgraded room was very poor, just imagine the state of the economy rooms. Smelly, rust everywhere, dirty carpet, no liquid soap. Unbelievably poor in this day and age. Property should be closed down for major refurbishment.

The man on the front desk was really lovely and welcoming (this was on Saturday 9th Sept during the day). The rest of the experience, not so much. The hotel is very tired, don't let the beautiful entranceway fool you. It wasn't awful, just a bit grotty. Bed quite uncomfortable.

It was very tired looking although our room was ok. Sitting outside none of the tables were cleared and there were full dirty ashtrays. Although the staff and food were mostly ok. Wouldn’t chooses to stay there again. One night was enough for us !!

Very friendly staff, especially on reception. We travelled, from south Yorkshire, on public transport so were spoilt with bus stops at the end of the driveway, to Bradford, Leeds, Saltaire and Bingley. Breakfast was good and the bar very acceptable. Our room was clean and comfortable and surprisingly quiet despite being at the front of the hotel. Would stay there again.
