The location is spectacular, and extremely peaceful. The welcome, care and attention beyond reproach;no one could ask for more.It is a very special place to stay.
And there are no dogs!
Quality period country home with fantastic views over the estuary, fields and hills in a beautiful part of Devon. On the terrace I was able to sit and photograph numerous birds feeding and catch sight of squirrels and other wildlife.
The hostess was very friendly and made me feel welcome in her b&b. Breakfast was delicious and substantial (local bacon and sausages) setting me up for the day.
Very comfortable bed meant that I had one of the best nights rest in a long time. Loved the minibar fridge in the wardrobe and tea coffee facilities.
This place is out of the way down country lanes and set in beautiful scenery.
The Devon Cream Tea is a lovely touch as are the drinks in the small fridge in the room.
Lucy is a great host and I would definitely recommend this place
From the welcome to the goodbyes, our stay was lovely. The Old Keepers is so relaxing. We loved the wonderful wide views over the ever-changing river Torridge, from the terrace or dining room and from the big windows of our river-view room. Lucy's breakfasts were absolutely spot-on, even wonderful. This one is a definite 'keeper' for us!
An old game keepers house, high on a hill overlooking the Torridge river, with panoramic views across the countryside. Well worth a stay for a peaceful get-away!
I had originally planned just a week in North Devon having booked an air b and b to stay in, but when I decided to extend my stay it was already booked for the extra nights I wanted, so I had to find somewhere else. I chose this place mostly because of the fridges in the rooms, which meant I could buy my own gluten free food for supper at the supermarket to eat in my room.
It has been a while since I stayed in a bed and breakfast and I have to say I was very impressed. Lucy is an excellent host who really looks after her guests and the room was perfect with everything I needed - and a wonderful view. You need have no Covid concerns here as cleanliness is scrupulous. I had a double room to myself at the top of the stairs with a bathroom at the bottom of the stairs - the whirlpool bath was gorgeous and nice addition, with nice, big fluffy towels and even a bathrobe and slippers. Breakfast each morning was a lesisurely affair with plenty of choice, and plenty of gluten free options. When I booked I noticed that a cream tea on arrival was included and I wasn't about to turn that down. What a wonderful way to arrive after a long drive - to sit in the garden enjoying that wonderful view in the early autumn sunshine enjoying freshly brewed tea and the most yummy gluten free scones I have had in a long time. I highly recommend this place.
The Cottage was lovely, full of character, warm, quiet, with excellent views and a great cooked breakfast.
Lucy is a star and just wants you to enjoy your stay.
