In the winter you have not one, but two ski resorts to explore: Mt. Abram Resort at about five and a half miles south, and Sunday River Resort just over nine miles north. The immediate area surrounding the property also hosts lots of trails for snowmobiling, hiking, and mountain biking. The beds are comfortable, good linens, and nice kitchen. The town 5 miles away is charming. The neighborhood the house is in, is okay.. but anywhere you drive close to there is beautiful. We did have a big leak during our stay - and had to deal with this on our vacation. apparently this has happened before in this home. A couple of boxes of tissues would be welcomed as would directions for how to use the tv remotes. The gas grill needs to be started with a match and the stove dials are on backwards and we couldn’t figure out how to fix them! We also loved the open floor plan of the living room, dining room kitchen area and all of the windows that let you feel surrounded by forest. The house was very clean and was equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable and cozy stay. However, the heat wasn’t working at 7:30 a.m. (it was -8 outside) and wasn’t turned back on until 12\. I had to be persistent ( 6 phone calls to both Vacasa and a woman who had just stayed at the house.) Also, there was an extremely foul odor coming from the basement that seeped upstairs because of the open floor plan. I reached out with no response. This place online looked beautiful in photos. In real life it is rundown and not taken care of. I would also not recommend this house for anyone with small children (no railing on some outdoor stairs and balcony). The house was not clean, many of the doors on the first and second level did not lock, and there was a major leak coming from the ceiling in the kitchen. The house was not properly cleaned, the couch is disgusting, most of the dining room chairs are very broken, and the linens/towels are stained. Customer service was terrible and management ignored requests to fix leak, clean apartment and fix the doors so that they would lock. No refund would be granted by vacasa and Vrbo wouldn’t do anything because the property was managed by vacasa. Staying here ruined my vacation and trying to work with vacasa to get any sort of compensation for the problems experienced was impossible. ##### Moriah C. We went Kayaking down the river on Wednesday! Great experience! Bethel Outdoor Adventure was an awesome experience! We also enjoyed biking and sightseeing! Modern Barn was a great place to eat and so was the brewery in Sunday River. We also enjoyed going to Portland Maine for a day. Overall experience was great and the house was clean and plenty of rooom for 6 adults. ##### Mark K. There is a fire pit outside but lots of ants around there unfortunately. We were celebrating a family birthday with three generations and our dog! So nice to find a place that allows for such a gathering with plenty of space. Also fun to spend time in a modern venue such as this, loved all of the windows and saw some pretty nice sunsets! ##### Michele L. Love the open concept upstairs for being together and all of the bedrooms downstairs for nighttime. Everything is well appointed, house is clean, check-in and dealings with the property management company all convenient. Also, we got the bring the dogs! ##### Brian R. The house is really nice, updated and is really nice having all the bedrooms downstairs and the upstairs open for entertaining. The only thing to complain about is how far away everything is. The closest restaurant and walmart is half hour to an hour away. House is in a quiet area, very peaceful. ##### Krystin N. We had 4 adults and 5 kids and didnt feel claustrophobic. Only problem was the dish washer and laundry. Dishwasher didnt work but they tried to send someone but he came and left because there wasnt a door bell and we didnt hear the knocking. The laundry machine stopped in mid wash. Had to use rinse cycle to finish laundry. But uf these two issues are corrected, its a awesome place. ##### Chon K. ---
