Great location! for first timers I recommend staying as close as possible to Gendarmenmarkt and Gendarm Nouveau was just across the street from it.

Nice location. Clean, comfortable room. Didn’t make use of breakfast room since there are so many cafes around. Lobby bar served a reasonable selection of hot and cold drinks and lobby was comfortable enough to sit for a while. Only things: lift and WiFi were both very slow!

We had a great stay at the Gendarm Nouveau. The location couldn’t be beat and the room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The service was also excellent. Truly an excellent hotel!

can't recommend this hotel -- in the summer I've given up going to it as it can be sweltering -- now in the winter no heat in the room and no one to fix it and staff seemed not to care about much of anything -- very indifferent even at check-in

Thank you for your review. After checking the heating, we were unable to detect any defect. It works flawlessly when it is hired. We very much regret that you fell ill and were unable to stay in your room because we were fully booked. We have both offered our basement room and reserved a room in another hotel opposite. Excellent hotel in its category. Best location in Berlin, walking distance almost everywhere in the center of Berlin. View on beautiful Gendarmenmarkt. Renovated, clean, quite street. Did not use their breakfast since there is multitude of pleasant small cafes around. Also a number of excellent restaurants. Helpfull staff. 2 lines of metro minute walk.... Perhaps a faster internet would be a bonus. Would stay again and recommend. Barbara

Central position a plus. Downstairs reception a minus. Staff OK. Breakfast used to be better more fresh fruit plate. Cleaning of room not great left dirty glasses behind. Water not replenished and no big bottles in bar downstairs.

Brilliant Hotel in an amazing city
Superb location - walkable to all the major sites of the city, 50m from StadMittie metro station, great bars, restaurants and bars and a great supermarket. Fantastic hote

Building work going on next door which started pre 8am. I asked if it was to be like that for the whole stay. First response was they cant hear it (in reception), second suggestion was I talked to the builders myself to find out! Appauling! No answer ever given to me. Hotel bar is in reception and is lifeless and clinical. Rooms decent size and clean but too dark, decorated with minimal lights. Location is good but given the poor service and atmosphere, I would suggest you look elsewhere for the price.

Dear guest, we regret that you had a reason to complain about the noise of the construczion work in the morning in front of our hotel. Beside this, the hotel is in the middle of the city east. Our bar is not very crowded because of the location of too many great bars and restaurants. We wish you all the best.

5 nights stay in a perfect location for walking to the important monuments and museums. Very quiet restful room. Breakfast costs extra. Room had too little light after sunset.

Great hotel in an up market neighbourhood. Staff very helpful when my friend had her passport stolen (not in the hotel!) and upgraded us to bigger rooms for the rest of our stay.

We had a wonderful 3 nights at this hotel check in was very quick and we were very impressed with our room - beds were very comfortable! Location was great we found lovely bars and restaurants closeby and we were thrilled with how easy it was to get to! No matter where we were in the city it was never too far from the hotel which is useful when we were returning at 2am!

Can’t recommend....
As I was a single person I was assigned a room on the street side where apparently all of the single guests are put. So as a single person you must tolerate the bar below the windows with outdoor seating and drunken noise and music all night long. It finally closed around 4:30 am and not much longer until trucks and other noise occurs. The room faces the busiest street in Krakow. There is NO air conditioner in the hotel and the rooms are very hot during the summer months. One is forced to open the window to get some fresh air. I was exhausted after my first night which played on my ability to go sightseeing. They could not move me and therefore I was forced to leave the hotel and find lodging on the same street actually, but with AC and tripled panes on the window. I had a great visit in Krakow after my move.

Nice but has minor hiccups
My room has a weird overwhelming smell, almost felt like body odour. But other than that, everything else in the room is great. We managed to open the windows to circulate the air. The aircon is seemed to be in low mode all the time although we adjusted it. The room is big and modern. Toilet is clean and nice. Bed is comfortable and huge and extra pillows were given. Staff are friendly, always greeting us when we leave the hotel or came back. Shopping area, supermarket and restaurants are nearby. Subway is just 3 mins walk away. Bus to airport is 5 mins walk away just by the main street. Perfect place to stay for 3 nights for us. Will definitely book again.

Best hotel on our trip across Germany. The room was excellent — clean and spacious. The hotel was near many of the tourist sites — a few blocks from most attractions and within distance of many delicious restaurants and cafes. We recommend it without any reservation.

Nice hotel, perfect Mitte district location.
Really enjoyed my stay at the Gendarm Nouveau Berlin - it is perfectly-placed for the whole Mitte district, and right by the historic Gendarmemarkt area, but being one street away is also away from the traffic and nightlife you sometimes get there. Rooms were good size and value for money, bed was comfy, everything worked like it should and staff were great. I would definitely go back there again for my mid-budget option.

Great hotel with super friendly staff
The hotel is situated in Stadtmitte, very close to Deutscher Dom and Stadtmitte (U2) subway station. Around the corner is a gigantic REWE supermarket. There are dozens of restaurants and coffee shops nearby. The rooms are big, well-lit with big windows, and with comfortable amenities. Bathrooms are clean, and well stocked with top-quality toiletries. What makes my week-long stay there extra special is the friendly hotel staff --- everyone from the front desk to housekeeping wears a friendly smile at all times, and is eager to offer help when necessary.

This hotel was fulfilled all my hopes and dreams. It was centrally located, the room was spacious, beautifully decorated, and we had a breathtaking view of the Neue Kirche Deutscher Dom. My boyfriend and I checked in the day after getting engaged and we found the room very romantic. My only complaint, which I hesitate to even bring up because our stay was so amazing, was that the front desk receptionist was not that friendly when we checked in. She was quick, but hardly spoke two words to us and was not that welcoming.
