Check in for us and another couple was delayed as we had requested twin rooms; watched whilst a number of other travellers were checked in with no issues whilst we waited with no explanation.
We had arrived 11 minutes early to be told our room wasn’t ready, we did get into our room. at 1540. We had wanted to check in as soon as possible as we had tickets for a show. This was explained to the receptionist, we were offered a complimentary drink, but the point was that we wanted to get into our room and freshen up. There was no explanation as to why our rooms were delayed or an apology. We assumed it was because we had in our booking requested twin rooms
Once we got into the room it was tired, there were chips on the furniture, scuffs on the paint, cheap shiny bedspread. Overall it felt tired and dated.
Breakfast was disappointing with the food feeling like a canteen, additional charges for other breakfasts e.g. eggs & avocado. I had to ask 3 times for tea that was then delivered from a stewed pot rather than an individual one provided.
The breakfast staff appeared a bit confused, and there were 2 arguments in front of guests.
The experience overall was of staff who didn’t care and weren’t happy in their roles, which was then reflected in the service provided.
I had stayed at the same hotel about 5 years before and had a very different experience.
Unfortunately from our experience this time we would not return
