Weekend treat

Posted 19-Apr-2016
Pros: Breakfast had the best variety we have ever seen in a hotel
Cons: The pool area changing rooms could do with a clean . The showers were not the best
Location: Swineley forest great walks
We stayed here for one night the room is lovely and big as we had a 2 double bed room . Loved the big windows and decor is lovely . Overall a good experience and we would use again

Old and rundown

Posted 30-Jan-2016
Pros: Nothing
Cons: More attentive staff and updated facilities are badly needed.
This hotel is in desperate need of an update. The facilities are old and run down. The heat in my room was not working and there was a portable heater in the room when I arrived. I stayed in this hotel because a vendor I work with booked meetings there. The vendor was also very disappointed with the facilities. The comments from others were that this is not what they would expect from a hotel with the Hilton name on the sign.

Return visit to a favoured hotel.

Comfortable and clean. Sadly no Classic FM radio although listed on the TV. We did not like the tall teapots at breakfast (actually coffee pots) as it was not possible to stir in order to get stronger tea (hotels never seem to allow sufficient tea bags for a decent cup of tea!) Otherwise fine.

Literie ok mais la déco de l'hôtel est clairement à refaire. Service ok petit déjeuner complet.

Very Poor

Posted 11-Jan-2016 on Hotels
Probably the worst Hilton I've stayed in. The room is barely big enough for the bed, the walls had been badly repaired and then wallpaper had been used to try and disguise the damage. The carpet leading to the room was threadbare and dirty, the room didn't have any heating or air conditioning (and smelt of damp) and a plug in oil-filled radiator was supplied instead which turned on and off every 5 minutes with a loud noise making it almost impossible to get to sleep. The doors didn't keep any sound out at all and I was woken 5 times on the first night by people walking past the room. The TV in the room barely worked and the picture quality was abysmal. The car park isn't lit and is a haven for thieves. The gym has only 2 rowing machines and bikes and is very small indeed. This was my first stay at this hotel and I'd already booked the next week as I was starting a 3 month work engagement. Needless to say all the bookings have been cancelled and I'll be staying elsewhere.

Service was good as usual, room 221 had a smell of wet plasterboard/concrete. View out the window was of air conditioning units. Shower still had the last occupants hair stuck to the wall and a slightly dirty hand towel. Heating/air conditioning was broken had to use secondary portable oil fired radiator.
