Used to be great, now just ok

Posted 03-Feb-2017
Pros: It is still very good value, pool area clean, big enough, wine list impressive, bar and dining area have a good atmosphere.
Cons: Behaviour of prosecco-soaked spa guests; staff ability to book a table for dinner and to accept that guests are not lying when they report this.
Location: Nothing, but the hotel/golf course are good enough for a night or 2.
I've been here many times, always good food, good wine, great spa, comfy bed. This time: Food was less impressive, cheap alternatives served compared to what was on the menu, wine still great, spa full of young same sex very drunken, inappropriate groups and bed still comfy so a mixed bag.

Breakfast that leaves you cold!

Excellent stay, except for an extremely expensive lukewarm breakfast!!!! Should be included in the price and hot!

disappointed

Posted 28-Oct-2016 on Hotels
I was disappointed that two of the steam rooms weren't working, leaving only the sauna. For an expensive spa hotel I expected more. I complained at reception and was told the manager would call. I'm still waiting for the call! I was also given a room with an adjoining door to the next room meaning I could hear everything through it. Its not the hotels fault that a really loud snorer in that room kept me awake but I am disappointed that I got that room and that they haven't bothered to call me back about it as promised. Por customer service.

Comfortable room and good breakfast

Posted 24-Oct-2016
Pros: Pleasant surroundings and welcoming staff. The bed was large and comfortable and the room lighting good. The shower was particularly good and easy to use
Cons: The toilet flush was a real pain and took hard work to get success. The basin was very slow to clear. I reported both to reception and observed that they made a clear note and apologised in a way that made me feel that it was being taken seriously.
Location: While it is very close to the Newbury Bypass the atmosphere is restful and the grounds attractive. We shall certainly stay again.

World class resort

Amazing spa facilities. Really great afternoon tea experience. My only criticism is that the hot tub could be warmer. I really liked the artwork in the resort too.

Important issues with the room but overall fine

Posted 19-Sep-2016 on Hotels
Cons: TV didn't work, Shower didn't work. We did mention this to reception who said it would be looked at but no-one ever did. Only 1 pair of flip flops in the room that were different sizes (one giant and one small) and to get correct flipflops you had to pay. Jacuzzi was also out of order, which is unfortunate for such a small spa. Pros: Big bathroom, big bed, friendly service, clean. I would say it is not a luxury hotel but average. I unfortunately wouldn't stay here again unless I found an AMAZING deal.

Lovely stay

Posted 11-Aug-2016 on Hotels
Lovely stay, bathroom was quite small but well presented. The health spa facilities were excellent, didn't get a chance to have a massage as was fully booked, and the lady was quite rude. The hotel grounds and dining areas are excellent, and it's a short drive to the nearby town(lots of restaurants).
