Lovely hotel set in amazing grounds. Nice attentive staff. We had a lovely stay but were out much of the time so didn't get opportunity to take advantage of the spa (which looked really nice).
We stayed for one night at the Forbury so we could be bright and early to attend daughters graduation ceremony. Hotel was is a great location right next to Carluccios and a couple of minutes from the Oracle. It's a great looking building from the front too - and from the courtyard. Lovely architecture. ...
A beautiful manor house in lovely grounds, but some rooms separate in grounds, ie garden rooms and cottage rooms. We had a garden room for 1 night which was very small and basic, with no fridge (so had to order fresh milk when required) and little storage for clothes etc. The walk-in shower overflowed ...
It was an ok stay, not the greatest but we were only wanting somewhere to settle our heads. Close to many attractions and has free parking. Room was relatively clean but it is old and needs updating and fixing. The walls are paper thin and I could hear the man next door snoring! Room was a box literally ...
All ok, problems with the lights in our original room so received an upgrade, handled well by the staff who were friendly and genuinely helpful.
wonderful B&B with excellent facilities and high quality finish. Staff were all very friendly and welcoming and breakfast is a delight in the morning with locally sourced ingredients and freshly squeezed juice - don't miss out. For a beautiful hidden gem close to the thames and river walks id have ...
I stayed here on a Monday night. Check in was easy and quick (despite the breakfast sales pitch!). Staff are very friendly and professional. My room was clean, quite small but space was maximised. It's heading towards needing a redecoration though. It felt more targeted to someone on a business trip ...
Luxurious hotel a little let down by small faults. The bed was comfy and huge but I was disappointed to find lipstick on the glass in the room and have to wash it before use. The pool and spa were gorgeous but disappointing that several of the jets including the jacuzzi area and waterfall jet were ...
Great hotel for exploring Windsor. Booked tickets online for the castle and the hotel printed them off for us which was great as it avoids queuing. Ate in the hotel restaurant for dinner which was lovely.

If you're staying in Berkshire, you'll be staying in a county with a rich and illustrious past. Pangbourne has the River Thames flowing right through it, so there are lots of riverside cafés to enjoy and waterside wildlife to watch. It's an ideal place to potter about on a lazy day. The town has lots of independent shops, making it an ideal start or end point for a countryside stroll. It has some heavy-duty literary connections too. Kenneth Grahame, author of Wind in the Willows lived in Pangbourne, while the Swan Public House is referred to in Jerome K. Jerome's classic comic novel Three Men in a Boat.
Elsewhere in Thatcham, Hosehill Lake is a nature reserve with a winding path with lots of seating and bird viewing areas at frequent intervals.
