Nice hotel close to everything

Pros: Again, the friendliness of the staff
Location: We used the hotel as our base for day trips along the great ocean road.
Hayley checked us in and was super friendly, a wonderful warm welcome, she even upgraded us! The room was nice and comfortable. We dined in the bar on the second night and the restaurant lady who served us (sorry didn't get her name) was excellent, again very friendly. She recommended the pana cotta which didn't disappoint, very yummy. The staff totally made the experience memorable.

Power failure caused chaos

Hotel was clean and pleasant but a power failure that lasted nearly 24 hours -and for which the staff seemed ill prepared - meant that I only had 2 out of my 3 nights there. To their credit, Rydges gave me an immediate refund and staff did theur best. But emergency lights failed after a few hours - no back up generator - no torches- no lifts - - could have been dangerous. Pitch black halls, no light at all in bathrooms. A rare occurrence but one I would think they should be prepared for.

Overpriced

From the time you entered the lift there was a musty smell. It comtinued into the hallway, all the way into the room. We purchased Glen 20, sprayed liberally oppened the window and it did get better. The beds were comfortable and the updated bathroom small, but nice enough. Although we booked for 4 people there was only towels and toiletries for 2. Additional towels were supplied when asked. Overall the hotel served its purpose, but it certainly wasn't worth the money that we paid.

We were most unfortunate to visit this hotel during a complete power failure that lasted all night and next morning,the real sad part they were unable to fix the problem,which was so surprising this day and age,breakfast was included and of course was not available\ Some compensation should be available ?

Unfortunately the power was not able to be turned back on as it did more damage then we originally thought. Basic and convenient

The room was large but obviously in need of an update. Bathrooms were newer. The hotel has changed hands so hopefully improvements on the way. Breakfast was very ordinary and disappointing. Staff friendly.
