We stayed overnight at South Lodge whilst at a wedding in Woburn Safari Park. The location couldn't be better for us and it was everything we look for in a B&B.

Mercure Milton Keynes Abbey Hill Hotel

Monks Way Two Mile Ash, Milton Keynes - Map

This is a good hotel. The bedrooms are excellent. On the morning of our stay there was a large coach party staying at the hotel. The dining room is fairly small for the size of the hotel, we therefore had to wait for a table. The staff tried very hard to keep up with the needs of the customers. We had to ask for many breakfast items as they constantly kept running out.The staff brought out fresh food straight away but more staff on duty would have helped the situation. I would stay here again.

"Hotel by standard, clientele definitely under that"
Everything about staff and facilities have been good, no complain about that. The only (big) issue has been that, as my room had window facing the internal full height open space, the bar at ground floor was busy and noisy with people shouting until 1:00 AM (and more). Definitely won't accepte that accomodation again.

"Not an airport hotel"
The hotel's fine, although don't believe them when they offer to give you a wake up call. I wasn't called. Nor were others I met that morning in the lobby. Thank God for iPhone alarm clocks. Also, most importantly, this is not an airport hotel. It took half an hour in a taxi to get there from Luton. Also, if you're expecting to get there by taxi from Luton Airport, be aware the system at Luton is corrupt. A limo company somehow bribed Luton town council to make all other companies illegal for passenger pick up at the airport. So the fare from Luton to Chiltern Hotel, one way, is 21 pounds. I learned later that regular taxis (and I took one back in the morning) charge 10 pounds. Uber charges 6. There are several hotels literally adjacent to the airport, but for some reason Expedia doesn't list them. Weird.

Pocket Guide: Luxury Hotels in Bedfordshire

Located just a short distance to the north of London, Bedfordshire is among the United Kingdom's favourite holiday destinations. Blessed with acre after acre of untouched and breath-taking countryside, it's a particularly popular choice with those keen to relax and have some down-time. The impressive selection of luxury hotels in Bedfordshire has firmly cemented the county's reputation as a hotspot for elite getaways.

    Indulge in Decadence

A memorable luxury hotel isn't just about ticking boxes and providing stellar facilities to guests. It's also about establishing an element of class and executing the decoration with taste too. There are plenty of hotels in Bedfordshire getting this exactly right, offering guests the chance to immerse themselves in decadence.

The Luton Hoo Hotel is among the most decadent in Bedfordshire. Set within more than 1,000 acres of picturesque countryside and landscaped gardens, the Luton Hoo is a hotel whose vocabulary definitely does not include the words 'modest' or 'humble'! Guests can also enjoy a full list of facilities, which includes an on-site golf course.

    Fine Dining

Exquisite food is just par for the course on a luxury break. While the towns of Bedford and Luton offer an impressive selection of excellent restaurants, most holidaymakers like to have the option to eat well within their hotel or guest house.

The Bedford Swan Hotel offers guests the best of both worlds. The hotel is located in the heart of Bedford, right on the River Great Ouse, offering easy access to all the town's restaurants and bars. In the hotel itself, the River Room Restaurant boasts a AA rosette.

    Spa Breaks

Luxury holidays are all about being pampered, and no relaxing break would be complete with a visit to the spa. While there are a number of independent spas dotted around Bedfordshire, some of the county's finest hotels actually house spas of their own.

Champney's Henlow represents the zenith of tranquillity and relaxation. The county escape features a long list of spa facilities, to include a Thalossotherapy pool, whirlpool and a variety of steam rooms, sauna rooms and dedicated treatment rooms. The accommodation is also spectacular, as is the dining.
