Airport staff had wrong info about airport shuttle
When you stay at an airport hotel and ask the reception desk for a 5am wake-up call it is reasonable to expect the hotel staff to either provide the correct information about the 5am airport shuttle, or ask a colleague for the correct information. The Ibis hotel staff gave me the wrong information -- TWICE.
Both evening and morning reception staff told me that the shuttle picked up right next door from the Holiday Inn (a five minute walk away) and that it ran about every 10 minutes. No, there is no shuttle from the Holiday Inn, which I found out after hauling my luggage to the Holiday Inn in the freezing rain, and in the dark. I wasted another five minutes getting directions from the Holiday Inn staff about the shuttle, which is actually another five minutes away, across the parking lot, down a long flight of stairs and on the side of a busy roadway.
After waiting in the pouring rain at a bus stop (with no shelter) I gave up and carried my luggage to the airport terminal -- about 15 minutes away, as there were construction barriers and a diversion in the airport parking lot. No shuttle bus passed me along the way.
Shame on you Ibis. I arrived at Departures exactly one hour before my flight. If the Customs/Departures staff were busy I'd have missed it entirely. I was lucky.
IBIS - Please get your facts straight next time so other guests don't have the same problem, fumbling around in the dark, freezing rain trying to find an airport.
