The Bellefontaine is a hotel that has a great deal of potential. The owner and staff could not be friendlier or more accommodating. The grounds could be outstanding if they had better care with grass cutting, tree and shrubbery trimming, etc. The room we had was very quiet and comfortable on the back side of the chateau. The room did not have air conditioning so if you need to cool things down you opened a window to the evening noises (that is meant as a positive). No screens on windows but no bugs either. Our room could use an upgrading but still was a nice accomodation. This is a real value hotel with our rate only 150 euros a night. The hotel is about a mile walk into the city of Bayeux, so this is a bit of an inconvenience. It is close to the Normandy beaches. The do serve a nice buffet breakfast for 14 euros and have an evening restaurant for dinner.

Stephanie is very friendly and helpful. Location is perfect for train arrival/departure. Stephanie arranged our day trips for normandy. Breakfast was excellent, fresh and nice to meet other guests. Garden is beautiful to enjoy. We would stay here again and again and recommend it fully.
we stayed here for a night on our way back to Le Havre. The B&B is in the centre of town, about 50 yards from the Tapestry. The owner was very welcoming and helpful, showing us on the map where everything was and recommending restaurants. The B&B is based round a courtyard with a lovely garden and cats and dogs running all around. The family room was at the top of two flights of narrow stairs, so be warned if you have heavy bags. the room was good, a double room and a bunk bed for the children. It could do with a lick of paint and upkeep but was perfectly ok. it was also very quiet. A very good breakfast was served with fresh pancakes and it was about 90 mins to Le Havre. A nice place to stay.

Situated 9 kilometres from the English Channel, Bayeux survived the Battle of Normandy largely intact, retaining the look of a traditional Normandy town. Its most famous attraction is the Bayeux tapestry, a 70-metre embroidered length of cloth depicting the 1066 Norman conquest of England. The tapestry, listed on UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register, is displayed in a museum in the town centre.
