Old house in the heart of a charming village on the edge of two forests: the forest of Chandelais oaks, over a thousand hectares, and the vast pine forest of Monnaie with a Mediterranean atmosphere. These two forests offer hours of hiking on marked trails on foot, by bike (available at the gîte) or on horseback. What joy in the morning to get croissants and fresh baguettes at the bakery 20 meters from the cottage! What a pleasure for the taste buds to taste, for lunch, the simple and country cuisine of the restaurant Le Brocard on the place des tilleuls. What a peace to stop in the modest 12th century church (labeled welcoming church of Anjou) and what a delight, in the setting sun, to walk towards the pond with its old classified wash-house and its wheel mill. A week of rest far from the hectic and polluted world of the metropolises. (But without neglecting the practical aspect, 7km from a small provincial town, Baugé, with its shops including a supermarket and its medical center (doctor, dentist, pharmacy ...) Fully renovated gîte. Sleeps (6): Upstairs, bedroom with a double bed, bedroom with two single beds, bathroom. On the ground floor, in the living room, two-seater convertible sofa (high-end, daily use, instantaneous opening rapido system), adjoining and private bathroom (this sleeping is independent because the occupants of the floor can access the kitchen, to the veranda and exit without crossing the living room). Living rooms: The living room has an insert with retractable window option offering the charm of an old-fashioned fireplace, a quality piano and a dining area for up to eight people. The fully equipped kitchen is independent The veranda with its board game buffet, its leather sofas / lounge opens onto an outdoor dining area. You will be able to benefit from a second garden furniture, shaded overhanging, in its green setting, the swimming pool of 8m x 4m, heated from mid-May to the end of September! Multiple leisure activities on the property: boules, badminton, mini football goal, table tennis ... a chalet dedicated to children and a small house for the little ones. Next to the pool, a room for changing, with rowing machine and exercise bike. The swimming pool is entirely reserved for you until midnight, lit pool, with the exception of 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Thursday for owners. Our nearby accommodation will provide discreet support for all your questions (we are bilingual English). The highlight was definitely the heated pool. It was lovely on a hot day and as it was heated we were able to stay in it for hours at a time. The owners are delightful, friendly and welcoming, and made us feel very at home. Beds were comfortable and there is storage everywhere. Beams are low but cushioned to avoid excessive injury. Showers and bathroom facilities are tucked into small spaces but very good showers especially, plenty of hot water and towels are also supplied. There are vast numbers of books in English and French for all ages and tastes. We really enjoyed being able to play the beautiful piano as well. The kitchen/dining is well stocked and there are plenty of tables and chairs for eating in and outside. There is a large garden with boules pitch, a beautiful heated outdoor pool with loungers, fenced off and surrounded by trees, really lovely, and we had the added delight of making friends with the family dog, a gorgeous corgi who visited us as often as he was allowed, mainly hoping for food and attention! The house is almost opposite the village boulangerie and the café in the square does very good meals for not much money. We loved staying here! ##### Ruth B. We loved everything about this little house, and are so happy we found it for our recent family holiday. Yan and Therese are wonderful hosts, and were very helpful both before and during our stay. They live next door and are often around to say a cheery hello, but it never feels like an imposition at all. We also fell in love with their beautiful dog! The cottage itself is adorable and very "quirky" (be careful if you are tall and broad like my husband, you may find the upstairs bathroom a challenge! Although this wasn't a problem as there's also a very nice downstairs shower room.) It is a very old, cosy and unique property, and feels very much like a home with its abundance of books and games. The kitchen is extremely well equipped - you will have everything you need! The pool area really is fantastic, a joy for both adults and children, and like the house is spotlessly clean. We didn't use the garden, but could see that it is very well equipped for younger children. It is also very peaceful and secluded - you can't see any houses from the pool, just beautiful trees and plants. It's lovely that you are allowed to use the pool at night - we did so several times and loved listening to the bats and watching the stars, it was very special. There is a good selections of bikes of different sizes provided, and we spent time exploring the local forest one morning, which was very easy and enjoyable. The village is small and very pretty. Sadly the restaurant is closed the second half of August, which was disappointing as we love to eat out locally. However, there are other places to eat nearby (we would recommend Les Voyageurs in Beaufort en Vallee in particular - lovely simple home cooked food and great service). Locally we visited Saumur and Bauge, and also did a day trip to the fabulous Chateau de Chenonceau. We would also really recommend the extraordinary Chateau de Breze just the other side of the river Loire, with its vast underground tunnels - the children loved it. We were going to spend a day at the nearby lake at Les Fermiers as it has an inflatable water park and is only 20 mins away, but didn't get around to it as we loved just spending time by the pool. We would definitely return to this charming house, and probably pack a lot less things as it is so well equipped! We would recommend it for families with children of all ages, or a romantic getaway for a couple. ##### Jo M. Stayed 7 nights in Apr 2022 ### 10/10 Excellent #### Julien B. 7 Nov 2021 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Géographiquement idyllique, et un vrai cocon à l'intérieur Nous avons fait le pari de partir hors saison, aux premières couleurs de l'automne, et ce magnifique gîte aura plus que comblé nos attentes. Nous avions besoin de nous couper un peu du monde et de nous ressourcer en famille, avec nos 2 enfants de 9 ans. Le programme était simple, balade en forêt le jour et cocooning / jeux de plateau le soir, et nous n'avons pas été déçus. Il y en a eu pour tout le monde. Le gîte jouit d'une situation géographique privilégiée, situé entre 2 magnifiques forêts, on peut faire toutes les promenades à pied ou à vélo sans prendre une seule fois la voiture. Les forêts sont magnifiques et les paysages de cette région époustouflants. Un vrai régal pour les sens. Et surtout... Quel plaisir quand on rentre de promenade de profiter de la cheminée au feu de bois mise à notre disposition. Nous en avons clairement abusé, avec la bénédiction des charmants propriétaires qui nous ont délivrés beaucoup de petites attentions. La véranda et son parasol chauffant nous auront permis de chouettes soirées jeux (et apéro!) et des moments lectures fort agréables. Je pense que nous avons réussi les vacances parfaites, celles dont nous avions besoin, rythmées par un retour à la nature salvateur et nous avons pu réchauffer nos cœurs et nos âmes au son du crépitement des buches dans la cheminée. Nous recommandons évidemment l'expérience, très chaleureusement. ##### Julien B. La maison, très atypique dans sa conception, dispose de tout ce qu'il faut pour passer un excellent séjour, que ce soit sur la literie, les équipements au sens large, et plus encore puisqu'elle fournit même des jouets en pagaille pour les enfants ainsi que des jeux de société ! A ce titre, et en grand amateurs, nous avons beaucoup apprécié la véranda et surtout sa grande table, idéale pour nos soirées jeux (avis aux connaisseurs, on peut même jouer à Lisboa - si ça peut vous donner une idée de la taille de la table :-)) Avis aux musiciens, le piano est également très sympa ! A l'extérieur, saluons la piscine chauffée très agréable, totalement entourée de verdure, ainsi qu'un grand espace vert avec mölkky, kubb, pétanque (un terrain est également présent), raquettes diverses, table de ping pong, bref la liste est longue et non exhaustive. A proximité pas mal de visites à faire, comme visiter Angers, Saumur, des chateaux divers et variés bien sûr, mais aussi Terra Botanica, le zoo de La flèche, etc Last but not least, les propriétaires Ian et Thérèse sont des plus charmants, et toujours aux petits soins pour nous assurer le meilleur des séjours. Un grand merci à eux. Bref, une location que je recommande donc chaudement. ##### Romain L. La maison est très confortable, très bien aménagée, jolie. La piscine, quand le temps le permet est spacieuse, à très bonne température et cotoie un joli jardin où il fait bon passer du temps. Les hôtes sont extraordinaires, disponibles et discrets, prévenants avec tact. Beaucoup de lieux passionnants aux alentours. Une mention spéciale aussi pour l'accueil si chaleureux de nos hôtes et pour leurs attentions. De la cuisine en passant par les jouets pour enfants nous vous eu tout ce dont nous avions besoin et même au delà de nos attentes (notre fille s'est régalée avec les caisses remplies de jouets). Les extérieurs sont très agréables et variés. La piscine est parfaitement entretenue et toujours à une température agréable. Les hôtes sont des personnes très prévenantes (accueil avec fruits du jardin et autres, toujours disponible et de bon conseil...) This gite is charming but has all the modern facilities you could need. Daily cleaning of the pool by robot, ensures that the water is crystal clear. Le gîte offre toutes les prestations désirées voire plus ( piscine sécurisée, multiples jeux d'intérieur et d'extérieur comme les fléchettes ou la pétanque...) nous avons eu accès à toute la propriété, merci à Thérèse et Yan pour leur accueil chaleureux, leur gentillesse et leur discrétion.
