Charming accommodation in a small village environment. Great pub and food. Attentive service. One minor communication kerfuffle that had more to do with Expedia than with the host.
We absolutely love staying here for our first wedding anniversary. The work we received was excellent and the room was absolutely lovely. What a quaint place to stay which is very quiet. I would highly recommend and we have no hesitation in staying here again.
Check in was great, Will showed us to our room straight away, he was also really helpful & attentive serving us at the bar & at our table. Our room was very clean & had all the facilities needed. Breakfast was disappointing, only continental available & pre ordered the day before. My other half ticked the box for yoghurt but the next morning there was no yoghurt on our tray. We would definitely stay here again but wouldn't have breakfast next time.

Disliked: Cleanliness
Booked a pet-friendly stay but found upon late arrival that no such rooms were available. The booking details on Expedia didn’t specify the need to arrange for a pet-friendly room in advance. Faced with an unwelcoming attitude from the receptionist and lectures instead of help at 10:20 PM, leaving us without accommodation. Surprised by messages claiming I was rude, contradicting their unhelpful demeanor. Disappointed by the experience and the misleading information.

Thank you, Hossein, for your non factual review and giving us the opportunity to respond. Its very import to display the correct information when making a review. You thought you had booked a pet friendly room via Expedia , but in fact you had not. You were aware of the check in times but turned up at nearly 10.30pm , and at this time all our other rooms were occupied by other staying guests, so you not only disturbed them, but started to become defensive and rude to our staff members here, which is completely unacceptable, and we will not tolerate this. We understand the staff tried to suggest seeking an alternative room in another establishment, but you just walked away. As your attitude was so negative, even if you had booked a pet friendly room and there be one available, we would question if we would of in fact let you stay purely on the basis of your behaviour. Our staff merely reiterated the position of your mistaken booking, which was done to your incompetence. We do agree that Expedia could do more to reiterate the amount of pet friendly rooms we have here, but all that information is given out to ALL booking agencies, but unfortunately, we cannot govern the way in which they chose to show that information. So, in summary the mistake was yours in not clarifying a pet friendly room was required, you also turned up late and agitated, with a rude manner to our staff, and your issue / feedback should be with Expedia and not us here at the establishment.
The whole experience was good. Plenty of parking. Rooms very comfortable, modern and clean. Nice location. January with sub zero temperatures, we were kept loverly and warm Shaun was a great host. Will stay there again.
This is a beautiful guest house and restaurant. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. Clean and well presented room. Lovely patio garden. I would defiantly come again and thoroughly recommend.

Thank you for your review. I remember you dearly asking for the laundry service that you say was advertised on our site. When I asked which site you meant your reply was Hotels.com. I informed you we were a Guesthouse not a hotel and that Hotel.com was not our website. However, I did look into your comment but did not see a laundry service advertised on Hotel.com.Electric in our rooms are at Uk standard and may differ to the USA, we close between 3pm & 6pm wed & Thursday to go to the store or like yesterday a GP appointment. your review was not a true reflection of your stay which is disappointing, and your comments don't justify themselves.
This is a great place to stay if you are visiting Bath
Beautiful quiet location with a busy stop outside that takes you into Bath in 20 mins.
Very friendly informative host, lovely comfortable room and fantastic food
We stayed at the Rose and Crown early in the week when the restaurant and facilities are closed. We met one of the owners once and he was very nice but there was typically no one around. Our room was very good and spotless. Breakfast was accommodated in a self serve fashion while the restaurant was closed. We had to drive to other local restaurants as the other pub nearby was closed as well. I think it would have been 5 stars had we had the full experience, the patio looked lovely and the food was well rated.
Was a quick stop over whilst we visited the bath area , however we will come back . We was welcomed by the owner who was polite and very helpful. Our room was clean and very comfortable and nice touches including tea and biscuits . Great location and with a bus running to Bath then makes it an ideal location without paying twice as much for a similar hotel in bath . Yes highly recommended
A wonderful escape from the usual hustle and bustle of daily life. Very comfortable, with an excellent restaurant for dinner in the evening, a cooked breakfast was not available however the farm shop a few minutes away was a good alternative.
15 minutes from Bath but another world of you can do have a little walk around the village church is beautiful.
We had an excellent stay even though I didn't notice that the bar/restaurant wasn't open on a Monday and Tuesday. Maybe Hotels.com should state this on their website. But the room was excellent and we are going to come back again in December. Strongly recommend this place
We only had an over night stay. We recived a warm welcome from Shaun. The room was lovely and extreemly clean. Restaurant food was first class. Would highly recommended the Rose and Crown.
Our host was very helpful and accomodating.
There was confusion initially regarding our arrival but that was not his fault. It was due entirely to the delays in messaging and mail as we travelled the countryside.
Great location, outside downtown Bath but just by an easy ride, 15 minutes. Has it's own restaurant as well and room was the roomiest we've had yet in our stay.
The arrangement to pick the keys was very easy,Nigel was replying to emails very fast. The location, parking, room was all perfect. We will definitely go back in the summer.
Absolutely excellent experience.
Room was great shame about the lack of breakfast options they only offer a continental style breakfast which they leave out on a tray overnight so we didn't bother. Also staff not particularly welcoming!
Ideally situated for Bath, Wells and Stonehenge. Bar and restaurant closed Monday, and Restaurant Tuesday, but worked round this. Bus stop outside that goes to Bath. A little noise from the main road, but all in all good value for money.
