This was an excellent place to stay in Basel. The facilities were wonderful and the service even better. Very close to Old Town and a tram stop. Great restaurants nearby, and the one recommended by staff was great! Highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great place to stay while in Basel at a good rate,

This is a very nice hotel, the room is big, very clean. Our room has a window facing one of the old city Gate. In front of this hotel is a Bonacic Garden. The garden is very big. we are very happy to stay in this hotel. Next time if we visit Basel, we will stay here again.

A great location near Old Town and a friendly staff, but we don’t think this hotel merits a 4-star rating; here’s why: - No 24-hour front desk service - Rooms very plain - Lobby and bar area a bit outdated That said, the Hotel Spalentor is a good choice for 3-star hotel in the area.

The Spalentour is conveniently located near a tram and a couple of buses; it is also across the street from a quaint pedestrian shopping area, and walking distance to some of the premier tourist sights of Basel. The staff sre helpful and the breakfast is reasonably good with wonderful coffee. There is a safe & a Nescafe machine in.the room

The hotel staff was absolutely wonderful. They were very knowledgeable about the area and helpful with everything we needed and so, so kind! The room was spacious and very clean. Hotel is in a great location and was easy to navigate.

The only issue but important was the shower. It was very slippery and difficult for a senior. Strongly recommend some handles to prevent dangerous falls. Main reason for not giving five stars.

Pure comfort and delight
We arrived to a warm welcome. Staff very accommodating. Had a great view of the old city gate from our sparkling clean, spacious and super comfortable room. The coffee and apples in the room were great, the bed was wonderful and the bathroom was very well appointed. We didn't realize we had to use the key to lock the door from the inside, so slept with the door unlocked; thankfully safe! Parking was extra but close by and easy to access.

Comfortable and welcoming
the staff were great - nothing was too much effort. The rooms were super comfortable, especially the bed! And the showers were top notch.Location ws perfect - short walk from free bus from the airport and close to old town. The only gripes were I did find a cockroach in my room - which could have come in on my clothes or through the window and it was the only one I saw. Also the breakfast was served all cut up into bite size pieces? I found this odd and it took ages to manuver small pieces of fruit, cheese etc. onto your plate.

The Hotel Spalentor was fantastic! Our rooms were ready upon arrival (earlier than check in). Refreshing after a long day of traveling from California to Frankfurt to Basel, Switzerland. Old town was close for walking. To restaurants, bars. The staff at HSpalentor were helpful & nice. Rooms are spacious & clean. I would highly recommend! We were there to board a Viking River cruise, 2 nights .

Great stay
We had a great time there. The staff were the friendliest we’ve ever experienced, they always went the extra mile. Room was excellent and cleaned with attention to detail every day. We will definitely return if we get back to Basel. 10/10.

Hotel Spalentor is easily accessible on Bus 30 (8 min from SBB Bahnhof). Our room was extremely comfortable with a comfortable king size bed and bathtub. As Switzerland is often very hot in the summer it was great having excellent air conditioning. We slept very well! Breakfast was delicious and the staff is very friendly. Could not ask for more.

Great hotel. The staff were tremendous and super friendly as well as helpful. The room was large and had a fridge, Coffee machine etc. everything you needed. Parking was just around the corner in a very convenient but secure car park. Really easy to walk into the old town and the shops. Beautiful city. Highly recommend staying here if you’re ever in town.

Great location just outside the gate to the old town. Super friendly and helpful staff. I liked the amenities like free coffee and fruit. They also had a bar, which was nice to be able to have a wine while enjoying the garden.

Enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Service was excellent and all staff were friendly and approachable. Very close to many shops although many were closed on Sunday. Also nice proximity to the departure for our Viking cruise.
