Booked the hotel since we needed a one night stopover close to the train station. i was well aware of the reviews of the property and booked a "new" room. We were attended to in a polite manner on arrival. The room was fairly new and was in pretty good shape for the inexpensive price range, but nothing that really makes you want to stick around. The entrance to the hotel is really unattractive, and you can almost walk past it if you aren't careful. It is located in a somewhat "seedy" area, and after an early evening stroll in search of some snacks, i could see that i wouldn't want to be out on the street in this area later in the evening, i'll leave it at that. Although not too far from the train station, it is nevertheless a chore if you have any heavy luggage. we chose to take a taxi which cost 8 euros.
Nothing about these comments should be interpreted as negative towards Bari. On the contrary, after visiting the Puglia region for several days, Bari was the highlight, and the old city is really outstanding. We spent several hours walking all around, never had any problems, and had an excellent meal at the Black & White Restaurant.
