Hotel in zentraler Lage (Ramblas) und dennoch ruhi

Posted 15-Aug-2015

Just off La Rambla

Posted 11-Aug-2015
The hotel was so close to the busy streets of La Rambla, but then you went into the hotel and it was an oasis of calm. The hotel is beautifully scented and has a wonderful garden courtyard. The room was lovely and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Great location - but beware about AC in July

Posted 30-Jul-2015
Pros: Location was perfect, updated rooms, amazing shower pressure
Cons: hated the single beds pushed together (aka. no snuggling with your husband), crappy AC, poor english from front desk
Location: go to Travel Bar (2 min walk from hotel), go on free guided tour!
Loved the location right off of Ramblas. Easy access to many local attractions, and less than 10 min walk to the boat pier, maybe 15 min walk to the beach. The location was my number 1 priority. I also loved that they we close to the "Travel Bar" where many walking tours start. I highly recommend the Photo walking tour. The room was spacious and updated, there was a computer in the room (some keyboard buttons missing though), but my window looked at a wall (hey, it was the cheapest room, I guess that's expected?). The worst thing of all was the crappy AC. I realize it was July in Barcelona, but I would want to know ahead of time as a tourist that the AC works poorly in the summertime. I asked the front desk to fix it and to their credit they said they would fix it or move us to another room. After dinner the same lady assured me it was fixed, and unfortunately the AC worked "slightly" better. Probably still 80 degrees. We had to shut all the curtains. I slept in practically nothing to keep cool. There were no fans. I was sweating just standing in the bathroom. BUT... if you go in other times of the year, I am sure this wouldn't be an issue. I would just want to know ahead of time. Other things.... the "free" bikes to rent were unavailable by 10am (maybe ask the night before?), and the front desk people speak poor english (again, expected but still frustrating). Still, I would stay here again, just not during the summer.

Nice hotel in the Bari Gotic

Posted 26-Jul-2015
The hotel is like an oasis in what has become a really crowded and a little seedy part of Barcelona. The lobby is lovely, calm, and it smells good. The staff is helpful, friendly and professional at the front desk. We booked a triple room for my husband, my niece and myself. I was concerned it was going to be a tight fit for 3 adults but I was pleasantly surprised. The ceilings are high and the windows are tall so it gives a sense of roominess plus there is plenty of space to walk and the beds were all very comfortable. We asked for extra pillows and towels and the staff brought them right away. The hotel has an elevator, the rooms are quiet with regard to street noise, there is plenty of hot water and pressure. There is also a very nice patio in the center of the hotel which is quiet and a good place to have breakfast or cocktails. It is essentially a very modern well run hotel in an ancient part of the city. I hadn't signed up in advance for the breakfast buffet but we wound up having it each morning and it was good. The location is convenient, about 1/2 block from La Ramblas and maybe a 10 minute walk to Placa Catalunya, and a five minute walk to Placa Reial which is a lovely place for dinner. The hotel was happy to make recommendations and they were good ones. You can purchase bus tour tickets at the front desk but they require cash and Placa Catalunya is probabaly the closest stop on these tours anyway - and you can pay by credit card there if you wish.

Awesome location, awesome staff

Posted 18-Jul-2015
Pros: Location, staff and air-conditioning.
Cons: The room we had, though very stylish and comfortable, could you some painting.
Location: Perfect central location near La Rambla
Three adults and three kids stayed in a single loft apartment with three sets of bunk beds and one queen sized bed. This hotel is perfectly located next to La Rambla and Liceau metro station. The hotel staff was wonderful. The bar and breakfast are also very good. This was a great value.
