This hotel is amazing for a short stay in Barcelona. It’s easy to get to anywhere with public transport. The only down side I could say is there are road works outside and in the morning it to noisy.

Excellent hotel at a good price.
We were very happy with our five night stay at Hotel Derby. The hotel was clean, quiet, comfortable, and had an excellent staff. The staff gave us useful tourist information and they resolved several special requests. I particularly appreciate the 24-hour receptionists who helped us get a taxi to the airport at 3:00 AM.

The staff is friendly and helpful. We arrived 2 hours before check-in, and though they could not give us a room immediately, they kept the luggage stored and allowed us to use the facilities (pool and other areas).

Okay but not perfect at all
We've stayed 3 nights at the hotel. We had asked for a water kettler which we got fast but didn't work. Also the 2nd didn't work. In addition, the same evening the electricity fell a couple of times (not connected to the kettler). Finally the next evening we got a kettler that workd perfectly. Thanks. Important to know, that the so called 'swimming pool' is eventually a pool but not for swimming. It's the size of a big bath and not even in the same building. It's in the other Derby on the other side of the street. Also the gym is really small with exactly 3 machines.... People were nice, the rooms clean! The pool and gym a huge deception!

One of worse stays ever! Bad location (brothels nearby). Entry cards were not working, I lost a lot of time. Bad food (I was sick afterwards) Additionally they charged some amount on my credit card, althoutgh i did not any extra services.

The location is prime and close to town center, some of the staff were really nice however the room had no tea or mirrors and the air conditioning went off intermittently during the night.

The location is great. Hotel building is very old, which is fine as it reflects the price. I booked after reading many positive reviews, which is so different from my stay experience. I booked for 8 nights, triple room (queen bed and sofa). We initially got a room on level 1, close to the elevators. The room had a loud buzzing noise from the elevator. I called reception and told them it. The staff did not seem surprised or asked questions to clarify what sort of noise it was, but immediately agreed to move us. We moved to another room on the same level, further from the elevators. The buzzing noise was still noticeable, but less noticeable, so we were ok with it. Unfortunately, the room had a thin connecting door to the adjacent room. We could hear the next door guests talking - not just mumbled conversation, we could hear what they were saying, including phone calls. We went to speak to the reception again, explaining that the next door guests were not talking extremely loudly or having a party, it’s the thin connecting door that allowed us to hear everything (meaning they could also hear us). The reception said the hotel was full, so it’s not possible to move that evening. The next morning we talked to reception again, who refused to move us. Finally we paid to upgrade to a junior suite, because the stay was already prepaid. The staff did not care at all. Will not stay here again.

Hotel itself has nice frontage and reception area was clean and smart. Check in good, the gentleman was helpful and amusing. Everything went downhill after that. For the rest of the stay the same man seemed to be having a bad day, and all reception staff blanked nor acknowledged you as you came and went. Room basic for the star rating, no air conditioning in any rooms so windows had to be left wide open every night. (Would be awful in summer). Our friends stayed in a Suite which was no way worth the extra cost. Neither room had tea and coffee making facilities, or room service, so we all had to go out for food and drink apart from water. The bar was not open the whole stay, it just stayed dark, and looking lovely like the pictures on the website. It says 'open on request' on notices around the hotel and we were not asking early, or late at night. Staff just shrugged their shoulders and said it wasn't open 'any days' when asked why. No public areas (apart from reception), or outside space to go to unless you visited the sister hotel down the road. You literally came out of your room and went out the front door. Water came through the bathroom ceiling (seemingly from the room above) and we were told there was 'no maintenance available'. We had to use our room towels to mop up the flood and leave them down while it dripped over the doorway. The only time a receptionist spoke to us was at check out when they wanted 39 euro city tax paying. The taxi arrived ok though!

Lovely hotel, good value for money
Had a great stay. Hotel was really nice, ngood condition, rooms were also very nice and great value for money. Would definitely stay again. About half hour walk to the ramblas, sagreda familiar and nou camp stadium aswell. Very pleased with the hotel

Uniqueness is their location, how easy to stroll around the area, near to restaurants and shopping. The hotel is in good conditon, in accordance to the price, however, start maintaining the property before is too late. I didnt like the air conditioning not working since it's winter, however I do like it to sleep. Let it be my choice please.

The hotel is in a good area, very walkable! The staff are great and very helpful! The double room was quite small, cramped even. The television on receives local channels, there are no Netflix, Prime or AppleTV options! Room 529 is directly behind the elevator, so we heard it all day and night! The extra cost for the breakfast is not worth it!

Good in general, old hotel but the price is ok. Excellent location with everything at walking distance. Big plus the air conditioning, really cooling the room. Cons: the noise made by the housekeepers since they arrive in the morning, banging doors and talking loudly.

Had to leave hotel to get a coffee- no tea/coffee making facilities - no bar.Breakfast , took 30 minutes for poached eggs and 15 minutes for cold hard toast. ( in fairness without our raising it no extra charge was made for cooked items )Generally a tired feel to the hotel and not worth a 4 star rating although staff were pleasant .

The property has a great location in the center of the city and walking distance to many spots. However the air conditioning did not work properly for us and it was humid and hot inside the room. Since we only stayed for 2 nights we did not ask for room change because when we noticed the first night was too late.

Nice hotel with excellent staff
Lovely hotel with excellent staff . In a good area close to transport links. Nice pool over the road to use . Room is very well equipped and a lot of extras for the price . Only complaint is no coffee or tea in the room but they did provide a kettle and aircon not cool enough . Would stay again

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was lovely but the air conditioner made horrible noises. We reported it and it was fixed right away. The breakfast was served in an elegant room and was staffed with polite and helpful people. All in all I would highly recommend the Derby to anyone staying in Barcelona! It is also very convenient to catching the hop on bus.
