"Excellent reception welcome "
Excellent welcome from the hotel staff upon arrival. It was out anniversary and they welcomed us with a bottle of champagne and a personalised message. Location was perfect for us.. close to the beach but in a residential area. The worse aspect of the hotel was the room service, breakfast service and food availability. The wait was ridiculous and they didn't have the food they listed on the menu. Then no sincere apology from staff. If they fix these aspects, I would go back.

"Excellent location"
We stayed at Axel for 3 nights, when we arrived we were welcomed straight away and upgraded which was nice. Hotel is under 10 mins walk to the main Rambla strip where you are spoilt for food and drink. We had a lovely time at Axel

"Clean and chic. Little privacy in rooms."
Check in was okay. The staff member who checked us in (I think her name was Marisol) seemed to have an attitude and was not very welcoming. However, we found the rest of the staff to be very friendly and accommodating. The room itself was extremely clean and neat. However, the bathroom has clear glass walls, providing no privacy. When we asked for a different room without the see-through bathroom walls, we were told that almost all of the rooms have the clear glass and were made to feel that it was odd for us to be uncomfortable with the lack of privacy. However, they were willing to move us to one of the rooms with partially frosted glass walls, which was better than the fully see-through walls, but not a huge improvement. We did not realize prior to our arrival that this was a gay-focused hotel and we were initially worried that as a hetero couple, we would not be as welcome, but that was certainly not the case. We felt very welcome and really enjoyed our stay. Thanks!
