Port St Charles is not a hotel, it is a residential community with some managed rental units. The property management firm does a fine job: their staff is courteous and responsive (frankly better than some hotels).
Onsite restaurant service is very nice, water taxi to beach is nice touch.
Port St Charles is small which lends itself to more intimate and attentive service. What will sell you on Port St Charles is the service...everyone from housekeeping, restaurant, reception to landscapers.
We would definately stay at Port St Charles again.
FYI: the biggest strike against barbados are the narrow, unlit roads and excess potholes. Currently crime is low (we drove the whole island without worry), people are warm, plenty of activities, abundance of fresh foods, true island feel...but the roads are dangerously narrow with no lane markers for the most part.
Second strike is lack of quality beachfront means barbados beachfront is not competitively priced in our review.
A third strike is the affluence gap between locals and tourist is evident - this is indicative that crime is likely to rise in future, unless something is done to narrow the gap.
