Great small hotel with an awesome beach

Posted 26-Apr-2017
Had a great stay at Mango Bay for five nights in mid April 2017. Reviews were right on. We had a room overlooking the pool with a partial view of the ocean. The pool closes early, noise was never an issue. The beach was small but amazing, highly underrated. The best part is the food! Can't say enough good things about the entire food staff from the chefs, the wait staff they are very pleasant and engaging. The food was the best by far of any resort we have ever been to. The people that work at this resort are to be commended for their professionalism and their friendliness.

Location was excellent but the place is older

Posted 04-Mar-2017
The location was great. The hotel is an older hotel and 96% of guest were senior citizens. Beach was great. Food was ok but definately not enough selection and breakfast was the same both days. The hotel is over priced. I would not recommend anyone nor would I stay there again. The staff was excellent though I loved them all.

Room Chice is Important

Posted 22-Jan-2017
Pros: food, drink, free boat rides and staff
Cons: signage and noise
Location: not a lot, but if you get the bus close to sandy lane
Fantastic holiday, had the best of rooms, poolside, no worries. Room was large and clean, 3 meters to pool, 6 meters to bar and 15 meters to beach perfect. Room was immaculate, own pool side shaded patio and own poolside decking chairs, confusion by some people who wanted to pinch your decking area so some signs idicating they where private areas would be nice. Bar and pool was fantastic, very clean and attentive staff making your rum punches delivered pool side. Meals wow 5* plus!!! Only downside when busy you kind of felt neglected and had to insist on refills and puddings. Amenities, excellent, entertainmet poor at best kareoke gone bad and internet wak but not fussed don't go on holiday to tweet! Had my 50th birthday here, brilliant, staff decorated room, dinner table, chmpagne and a sing, really made my day special, only one snag they got the day wrong by two days but still appreciated. Negatives: Don't buy the economy rooms, we had an upgrade quiet and lovely, the economy rooms so we where told, noisy, next to the street parties and cramped. The beach is lovely but you get pestered by street sellers very annoying but they do take no for no, until the next day and you start again. The Overall a cost effective holiday. Highly recommended

Excellent location

If you like hanging out with Brits, this is the perfect place for you, my wife and I were the only non-Brits we met at the property the entire week. The hotel is perfectly situate on the west coast of Barbados in a prime location. Staff and service were excellent, as was the bar. The food was a 3.5 out of 5, generally good, but could use some improvement, e.g., the breakfast buffet setup was exactly the same each day, so we had 7 nearly identical breakfasts, the same type of only 1 cheese, the same 1 type of ham, same selection of everything every day; a bit of variety would have gone a long way. Maybe the best part of this hotel was that part of the "all-inclusive" included the no additional cost of water activities like sailing, snorkeling, waterskiing, taking a catamaran to swim with turtles, etc. It was nice not to be nickel and dimed for every activity.

Be very careful on room selection....

Posted 08-Dec-2016
First night awful as were in a standard room and told karaoke would be going on till 0400 every night! Complained and got upgraded by Expedia (not the hotel!!) after which it was a pleasurable stay. The room was also very tired and in need of an update / refresh. Hotels attitude on the first night however was disgraceful and they should not be allowed to advertise hotel rooms knowing full well you'd only get two hours sleep per night. I also heard about five other parties complain about the same issue when I was there - YOU NEED TO SORT THIS MANGO BAY!!! Post this very disappointing experience myself and girlfriend had a great time once we were moved: - new room was much more modern than the previous one - staff were generally pleasant albeit there was the odd surly individual - didn't feel overlying busy despite being full - the catamaran trip was very good - the beach was nice albeit it seems to be disappearing so I'd check there still is a beach of adequate size before staying - the food was of a better quality than I envisaged for an all inclusive especially the a la carte. - great location near holetown - generally a nice social vibe with the other guests - overall dry good value compared to other options on the western coast assuming you can get some sleep at night!!

Great place with wonderful location

Posted 20-Nov-2016
Pros: Loved the size and the location
Cons: Front desk staff could be friendlier.
Location: We were withingwalking distance of a small mall and there were several boutiques in the area. Also lots of restaurants but didn't need
Loved how small this place was so we never had to fight for beach chairs. The menu was high end and so were the drinks. Staff was unpredictable as we often had very friendly people to deal with and then at other times very cool and stand offish. The cleaning service was also hard to figure out as we had no idea what days we would receive towels and what days we wouldn't. We also had to continually ask to have our lotion and conditioner refilled - not something they did voluntarily. Watersports staff was grumpy so we just figured things out on our own. Superior location. We don't recommend the scuba diving company that the hotel likes to use - Reefers and Wrecker. Instead use West Side Scuba as they are more efficient and cheaper.
