We were just disappointed that the old school house didn't have many windows looking out in the opposite direction to the hills, perhaps it was designed like that to stop the children being distracted! It would have been nice to have some garden furniture to sit out when the midges weren't around to take in all the views. The house is basic and the water pressure hit and miss, however, it was all clean, the beds were comfy and with so much countryside on the doorstep you didn't need much more. I managed to arrange a Tesco delivery which provided all our supplies on the night we arrived and then Braemar down the road had everything else you could need. We bought a small walking book from a shop there, which covered the area and did almost all of the walks in it including the gorge at Lin of Dee and climbing Morrone. We'll definitely be back. Braemar, which has lovely shops and facilities is only about 5-10 minutes in the car. The cottage is very spacious, with three goodsize bedrooms, and it was very handy for us that it has desks/space for studying, since 2 of our children were revising while we stayed. The cottage is cosy and has a lovely open fire, and good kitchen facilities.
