We stayed just one night before we flew back home. I thought that the hotel was in Ubud (the reason for us being there) but it was 20 minutes outside and so we never got to experience the market or anything that Ubud is known for. However, that's more down to my lack of research than a fault of the hotel. Despite its beautiful surroundings (perched on a lush river side) we found the experience in the hotel less than average. When we arrived there were two young boys who greeted us (nice but didn't speak English) and who then prepared our supper. We weren't convinced by eating outside our room (surely this would encourage rats, mice, ants?) and instead chose to eat downstairs for supper. This was the sticking point as we saw one of the 'chefs' taste our average food with his fingers and then served up with his fingers! We left our food and couldn't wait to get out of the hotel the following morning. The lady the next day spoke more English and was very nice and I think it would have been different if she'd been there the previous evening. It seemed remiss to leave two (albeit very sweet boys) in charge of everything. The experience left us feeling that hygiene needs to be looked at.

Service was amazing, pool was great to chill in and relax after a day of wandering in Ubud. Very open villas and rooms with good breeze, makes up for no aircon. Amazing view from the balcony of the villas.

The hotel is very nice and good atmosphere.
The hotel was great for everything. The staff was very helpful and so kind. They help me for motorbike rental and book the trekking trip. They offer a lot of assist if you have no idea for traveling. If I have a chance to go to Ubud I will stay at Graha Moding again.

Charming hotel close to Ubud
Very charming hotel with a great view over rice terraces. In it I felt like I was a part of some fancy expedition, with its antique-looking furniture and cozy room. Amazing infinity pool, warm even in the evening. Quiet atmosphere, comfortable bed. The only inconveniences were: 1) insufficient lighting in the room (too dark); and 2) rare shuttle service to Ubud. The downtown are is about 10-15 minutes by bike and an hour of walking. Also, the stuff cleaned my room, even though I left the "do no disturb" sign on my door.

Loved it, though a looooong walk to town in heat
Perfect if you are wanting to get away from the horrendous traffic now clogging ubud streets. The walk to town is a bit long in the heat of the day or at night, but if you don't mind taking a 10-minute taxi ride. Perfectly peaceful, lovely setting and a wonderful reprieve from the crowds of ubud.

Beautiful escape
If you want to enjoy rustic balanise villa and be surrounded by nature, rice fields and ease of life, this is a place for you. A few kilometres from business of Ubud. Do not expect TV in your room, locks on doors and AC but rather mosquito nets and a fan. ( there is safe in a room ) Expect beautiful pool overlooking lush hills, piece and sounds of nature. Staff can arrange free shuttle for you or private taxi.

Do NOT stay here. They have bedbugs!!
Unfortunately, I did not have a pleasant stay at Graha Moding. The rooms are authentic Balinese style rooms overlooking rice fields (which are stunning), but the problem is that there are many bugs and larger creatures that can get into the room. Also, the bedsheets and cover were damp. The first night I had to chase a large ghekko out of my room and I woke up covered in bedbug bites (so gross)!!! I had to check out a day early because I could not sleep there a second night.

Fantastic stay in a quiet area of Ubud
We stayed in the river villa and it was perfect. It is located about 10-15 min drive from the city center of Ubud, which is very busy, thus the location of the villa is great (the area is extemely quiet). Shuttles to Ubud are offered twice a day. The staff was fantastic - always so nice and accommodating. Breakfast is delivered to your door and served on your private balcony - it was also delicious!! The facilities are very clean and the grounds extremely well kept.

Amazing view
The hotel does have an amazing view and you really are in the ungle. The pool was great too just like the photos. Room was good but definitley gets hot without air con. The bath/shower didn't work properly and was cold water only. Breakfast was good, there is a shuttle into and out of town but it doesn't take you back to the hotel till about 10pm making it quite a long day. Hard to get taxis back for a reasonable price.

The amazing Graha Moding
Graha Moding was the perfect introduction to the Ubud. Me and my boyfriend loved this place. We could have stayed here for the whole trip and definitely was to come back in future. You can see a rice terrace. The of nature are one to remember. Its beautiful here i'd recommend it to any one.

Beautiful hotel with lovely staff!
We had such an amazing stay at Graha Moding. Such a beautiful little boutique hotel around 10 min drive outside of Ubud centre. Its very peaceful and all you can hear is the sound of the birds, just what we wanted outside of the hustle and bustle of the tourists. The 3 course breakfast was amazing (go for the banana pancakes) set up outside our room every morning by the lovely staff. Would 100% recommend!

Beautiful
Just beautiful, quiet, semi-secluded and small in that there are not many rooms, very helpful and beautiful people, could not say enough nice things about this place, only draw back would be that you are close to the neighbouring room, if you want to be close enough for a 45 minute walk to central Ubud or a short taxi ride but far enough away for a quiet stay away from the tourism then you will love this place, magnificent food on site as well

Run down but clean
The pool overlooking the jungle is pretty instagrammable, and the staff are super friendly, but beyond that, the place is clean and staff work hard but it's feeling very run down and there are certainly better spots for the price. The rooms don't really lock (as in there's a lock on the door but then giant windows that don't lock); the bathroom door was falling off; evening shuttle didn't come one night; card machine didn't work (take cash).

Secluded and rustic
This is a secluded rustic accommodation. The staff are always lovely. The view from the hotel is great and it is very quiet. You need a ride to the Ubud centre as it's far enough. They have free shuttles a couple of times a day but it was not easy to be out all day because it's so hot. Limited numbers but there are a few restaurants in a walkable distance. They only had a fan in the room we stayed and it was too dark to read at night. But otherwise it's a fantastic place to stay.

Tranquil break in the mountains
We stayed for 5 days and after visiting UBUD and surrounds we relaxed and enjoyed our time at the hotel. It was a lovely break away from the busy streets of main towns. The sounds of the forrest are a welcome relief from the sound of honking horns. I would highly recommend this hotel to any traveller staying in Bali.

We've traveled all over the islands in Indonesia and Graha Moding had BY FAR the best staff we've had. Very welcoming, always there to help, offered a free shuttle to the center of Ubud or to rent motorbikes next door, helped us book activities that we wanted to do in Ubud, brought us breakfast right outside our door/ on our balcony, beautiful pool with view of the jungle, nice room with mosquito net. Seriously, it was a great place to stay. It's about 10-15 min from the center of ubud in motorbike. It's a quiet area and surrounded by rice fields. LOVED it!

Top ten hotel pools
The staff is very friendly. They look after you. I had trouble with my reservation being on wrong day and couldn't get here. They changed it for me no problem. My villa jets out into the jungle and you can hear the rush of the river below. Food is excellence and served on your balcony. Refrigerator provided. Large spacious room. Huge tub and bath as well. I'd like to have a party on my balcony tho I don't know anyone here. Lol.

Beautiful restful location
We had a wonderful stay over 8 days in one of the riverside villa. It was absolutely fabulous -- peaceful views of tropical forest with rushing waters below. Service was impeccable and staff went all out for us including a lovely heart made of flower petals on our bed to recognize our honeymoon. Breakfasts and those dinner meals we had at the location were excellent quality served on our private balcony on time as requested. Free shuttle into town worked well. The infinity pool was lovely. Basically this place looks like all the best photos on the website.

We stayed for three nights and I must say that the stay was amazing. The view was great. The room was beautiful and since it was our honeymoon the whole ambience was just perfect. I should mention here that the breakfast was extremely good and very filling. If possible I would have stayed back for some more days but we had other places to cover. Its located a little far away from the main area but thats what makes it all the more great. This place is very peaceful with paddy fields right next to it. The twice free shuttle service to the main Ubud area is great.

I spent 5 days at Graha Moding and it was a wonderful introduction to Bali. I had the river edge villa with beautiful views, a huge private balcony where you are served breakfast in the morning. Easy access to Ubud and surrounding areas by taxi or hotel shuttle. I moved on to Ubud after and wished I was back at Graha Moding. The staff were exceptional, taking car of your every need. Awesome massage overlooking the forest. The food was excellent, especially the breakfast, best breakfasts of all of my accomodations in Bali(and they were all good. pineapple pancakes were my favourite. Loved my authentic Balinese villa. My only complaint is that I booked an additional night through Expedia which the hotel could not honour as they were already booked. No issue with that. However, I have not been refunded for my night that I paid for and the e-mail I was given for Expedia does not work. I will have to wait until I return home and have phone access. Although this is more of a problem with Expedia I guess but I wish it would have been worked out. Do not hesitate to book here. Absolutely loved it and will definitely go back if I return to Bali. Thank you Graha staff for a perfect start to my vacation!

A true Balinese experience
Graha Moding is tucked away amongst the rice paddies 6km outside Ubud. The River Villas (no's 1 and 2) perch overlooking the river and are free standing from the hotel. The room is comfortable and the location is very quiet. The bed is huge, the facilities are basic - small bar fridge, shower, fan only (no a/c) but sleeping with the windows open and mosquito net closed around the 4 poster allows for a lovely breeze and the night sounds to filter in. The balcony is large and your breakfast choice (eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, fruit, yogurt, coffee etc) is served here at the time you choose. Dinner is available from a small but affordable menu (nasi goreng is Rp40,000). The pool is refreshing and clean with pool towels provided. A shuttle bus to Ubud is available twice a day but times are limited (e.g. departs 5.15pm and returns around 10pm) Staff are locally employed and extremely helpful and friendly. The welcome cocktail was delicious. The rooms in the main buildings are wooden and bottom floor may hear top floor guests moving around. Free wi-fi is available but slow in river villas which is further from reception. This is a genuine Balinese experience with the village temple up the road and rice fields adjoining and if you want an authentic bit of peace and quiet you will enjoy Graha Moding. If a few ants and open windows do not appeal then the Holiday Inn might be a better choice.

Wonderful stay. You'll see what true relaxation is. Perfect surroundings, traditional and beautiful housing, and extremely nice staffs. The breakfast which you can have just in front of your room is also fantastic. Will definitely come to Bally again to visit this place.

piece of paradise with milliong dollar view
we stayed in multiple hotels in Ubud, and this was our favourite one. it has the view, beautiful infinity pool, AMAZING staff, great breakfast and reasonable prices. If you are thinking about staying here, pay the extra money and get the bungalow. they are better than the hotel apartments! overall amazing stay. 5/5

Perfect little gem
I spent three nights in legian and then retreated to this wonderful little villa in the country for four nights. The room was outstanding and the hotel staff were wonderful. I had several massages on my vacation but the best one by far was the one I enjoyed at Graha Moding!

located far from Ubud centre, its ideal for those people who love being quiet, out of everything, facing a ravine with its river and tranquility of the forest. I should say the lifes and noises of the forest. Nice and helpful staff. No restaurant service available. If your look for city excitement, stay away.

Staff extremely friendly and helpful and will bend over backwards to make sure you are comfortable and happy. Room is nice but be prepared that it is a bit of a "camping" feel as it is open to the outside (at least our non-air conditioned room). However, we had no issues with pests. Very quiet and amazing atmosphere. Pool is beautiful as is the view!

Exceeded expectations
We wanted a relaxing holiday away from the rat race and we got exactly that. Sitting by the beautiful infinity pool over looking the tropical rainforest was just what the Dr ordered, simply stunning and then the walk into Ubud through the rice fields is a fantastic start to the day... walk in, have some lunch and catch a taxi back (AU$5) to spend the afternoon relaxing before catching the free shuttle back to Ubud for dinner. Ubud main street was not my cup of tea, do yourself a favour and head down the side streets around the football field, some great restaurants and bars, much better foot paths and less intense than the main road. We stayed in both the woodhouse in a downstairs room (room 3) and then down the bottom in a bungalow, the woodhouse bathroom was far better than the bathroom in the bungalow but still fine. If I had to pick at anything it was that in the woodhouse you could hear the person above you, our last night there were kids there and they where noisy and stomping around which was annoying. The staff where absolutely wonderful, some of the best meals we had where at the hotel and the breakfasts where excellent. In house spa treatments were superb and priced unbelievably low, 90 min massage with facial AU$14! If you're wanting to quietly laze by the pool drinking ice cold Bintang overlooking spectacular gardens and forest then this is the place for you.

Quiet & relaxing place.
It was so quiet at times that you can enjoy the calls of the birds and other creatures in the plants around. No TV to distract you so you can read and read and read. You can just live a simple and basic life there.

Jungle retreat!
The hotel is a lovely place set in the jungle just above Ubud. The rooms were traditional Balinese style and had great bathrooms. The balcony area where we had breakfast was great although you do share it with another room. The infinty pool was lovely with a great jungle back drop. There is an onsite spa and you can order food to be delivered to your room. The hotel can arrange tours and taxis but there is also a place next door to rent mopeds which you will need as it is quite far from most things. However, there is a wonderful walk through the rice fields into Ubud which takes about 45mins. The hotel does have twice daily shuttle buses also.

Welcomed with a lovely juice and found a very comfortable and well presented room. The hotel was a little further out of town, but this added to it's tranquil atmosphere. They were very helpful in providing breakfast for us to take away as we had an early start

True Way to Experience Bali
We arrived whilst it was raining, welcomed by the staff with umbrellas and offering to take our luggage to our room for us. The villas really are unbelievable, and something you definitely have to experience! The area is quiet and beautiful, and not too far away from Ubud Central. The breakfast is delicious, and so are the other meals they have to offer at a very reasonable price.

Really awesome place
Graha Moding was a real cool place to stay. About 10 mins by taxi from downtown Ubud, away from the hustle, bustle and traffic of the town centre. Staff were really friendly and helpful. The resort itself is super quiet and peaceful. Fully recommended!

Hillside hideaway
A gorgeous location away from the bustle set on the hillside. The rooms and the staff could not have been better. Provided us with lots of local information and made all calls and bookings as requested. Getting up to breakfast set on your private balcony overlooking the valley was spectacular. The food was also fabulous. Took a walk into town through the rice paddies was great about 45 mins if you don't stop to gaze at the view also gorgeous cafe along the way. A cab ride back only $5 I would recommend this place to everyone it's gorgeous. The staff and the location are perfect. Thank you

Little slice of paradise
Spent 5 nights here with my husband. Staff were delightful - friendly, efficient, gentle and discrete. Setting was peaceful and majestic. River view villa was huge - shared with frogs, geckos and ants BUT this is surrounded by forest and rice paddies. We were extremely well looked after. Food was fresh, local and tasty. Pool was really well maintained, as was the rest of the premises. Yogi (coordinator) is really well informed and well organised. Massages are awesome. Although not frequent, shuttle into Ubud was quick. We walked (numerous times) along rice paddy walk into Ubud (wonderful trail) -about an hour. Definitely worth a visit, although if you need 5 star with all the material trimmings, air conditioning, hustle and bustle, this may not be for you.

Beautiful location, be careful on room selection
our first room given smelt damp, had no fridge or tv (the last two items were more our fault bc it wasnt advertised with them) and did not look like the pics used their website. once i complained about this the staff were very quick to upgrade us and accomadate us where possible. the lady running everything was absolutely fantastic and she does her job well. set in stunning surrounds with a beautiful pool.

Everyone should stay here
Wonderful staff. Arrived late at night, staff was there to help with luggage, provided a nice welcome drink. Reception went through my complete Expedia reservation itinerary, which was a fantastic idea because I knew that what I paid for, I was getting. Breakfast on the veranda was an amazing was to start the day. During my stay, everyone was helpful, smiling, polite and professional. I have too many examples to list. The room was super cute and always clean. The small infinity pool looks out at beautiful trees. A walk to the left of the street takes you along the small village area. Residents were so friendly too, saying Hi, Good morning, asking where I was from... To the right, you take a beautiful path through rice fields. I've stayed in many types of hotels, all over the world, for work and for leisure, I can honestly say that the Graha Moding staff are the best in every way. Their interaction with me made my vacation all the better. I really felt taken care of, and that my business was appreciated. I will tell everyone I know of Graha Moding because of the fantastic service, and very kind staff. Thank you
