Pestana Palacio do Freixo, Pousada & National Monument - The Leading Hotels of the World

10/10 Excellent

"An elegant Pousada but the bedroom was very functional and modern without any soul. Easy access to parking and Porto by taxi. Staff were rather overworked so less attentive but very courteous."

Casa das Lérias

10/10 Excellent

"Lovely hotel in the main part of historic town overlooking the river"

Hotel dos Loios

10/10 Excellent

"The room was clean. The hotel was conveniently located, and the breakfast was good."

Douro Palace Hotel Resort and Spa

10/10 Excellent

"A beautiful place high above the Douro river. Exceptionally helpful staff. The Spa are is included in the room price plus there is an outdoor pool area with a bar which was closed when we visited in Oct. The hotel offers a collection of activities from guided walks, boat trips live music and a variety of wine and port tastings. The restaurant offers a variety of dishes including a wine pairing menu, everything was tasty and well presented. Breakfast was a buffet and included everything you would want however they aren’t geared up for tea drinkers lol. The only small negative is that the room wasn’t cleared of dirty cups or glasses but beds were made and towels changed. If you want to swim inside you must wear a swim cap which are available to buy."

Meliá São João Da Madeira

"Highly recommended for a night stay in São João. We took a day off from walking the Camino and had a beautiful night's sleep with the use of the pool and sauna to refresh our legs. Loved the outdoor pool!"

"Small but cozy spa. Staff very friendly and nice breakfast."
