With its revitalising coastal breeze and leisurely pastimes, Ayrshire and Isle of Arran is a perfect escape for relaxation. A selection of spa hotels are on hand to treat guests to massages, jacuzzis and health treatments, but you'll find there's also lots of fantastic activities to do outside your hotel, so much so, that you will leave this region feeling totally reinvigorated.
Breathe in the fresh salty air while on one of the many beautiful walks in this southwestern Scottish region. There are 11 miles of coastline to cover on the Isle of Cumbrae, a short ferry ride away from mainland Largs, called the Cumbrae Sensory Trail. along this stretch you will bypass the lovely Ballochmartin Bay, Farland Point, Fintry Bay and see the views Mull of Kintyre. Keep your eyes peeled for porpoises and seals!
This area makes the most of the fishy offerings from the surrounding Firth of Clyde waters. For a relaxing evening, choose one of the sophisticated oyster bars that light up the mainland’s seafront. Alternatively, go somewhere a little more comfortable, such as a traditional fish and chip shop.
If you're worried you're going to miss the food, you can always take home some goodies after a trip to the Ayrshire Farmers market, a weekly event that sells local delicacies such as Ayrshire bacon, huge lobsters and juicy lamb cuts.
