The Dairy - set in an Area of Outstanding Beauty

Adults-only holiday home in Axminster
The Dairy

A superb, charming detached ground floor cottage, formerly the milking parlour, set in beautiful Devon countryside in a quite courtyard setting of Studhayes Barn, located within half a mile of the village of Kilmington, near Axminster. The popular Tuckers Arms is located within the pretty village of Dalwood, which is just over a mile from The Dairy and a fabulous walk.

The village of Kilmington boasts an excellent farm shop, selling locally sourced products together with a delightful café. Pubs include the Old Inn and the New Inn. A five-minute drive to the small thriving market town of Axminster, famous for the Hugh Fearnley-Whilttingstall ‘River Cottage Kitchen’, shops, cafes, restaurants and weekly street market. Ideally positioned to attend the River Cottage courses and weekend dining.

The coastal town of Lyme Regis with its famous Cobb, interesting individual specialist shops, restaurants and beaches, is under a fifteen-minute drive over the Devon border into Dorset. Many spectacular cliff top walks on the stunning Jurassic Coast to Seaton, Beer, Sidmouth and beyond. The pretty Axmouth Harbour with yacht club and beautiful river Axe with Nature Reserve for wildlife enthusiasts, a bird lovers paradise, is a twenty-minute drive.

The Dairy is well placed for access to Dartmoor and Exmoor National Parks and allows for easy access to Devon, Dorset and Somerset. Devon is full of quiet country lanes, a patchwork of lush green fields and sleepy villages. Don’t forget to sample a delicious Devonshire cream tea!

5/5 Excellent

Fantastic stay at The Dairy
The Dairy is a fantastic holiday rental. The location was perfect for us to access the beaches and beautiful coastal walks. The farm shop and pub nearby were also great. The barn conversion is spacious inside with everything we needed. The beds were very comfortable and we just loved the decor and layout of the whole bungalow. Outside there is a huge amount of space with beautiful views and many options for sitting and relaxing. Lynne and Steve were the most friendly and relaxed hosts we could wish for. Thank you for an amazing week.

The Dairy is a wonderful stay
We had a thoroughly enjoyable and very relaxing long weekend staying at The Dairy in May. Steve and Lynne are lovely and on hand on email or in person to make sure your stay is super easy. The place is beautiful, with lovely touches throughout the accommodation. The games room is such an added bonus, and our kids, 13yrs and 11yrs, loved it (so did the adults). Good location for the coast and beaches and we loved the local farm land and animals. We hope to visit again.

Lovely property close to Lyme Regis and the Jurassic Coast
Great hosts, had all the amenities and were very relaxed and friendly. Property very Covid clean and clear instructions. We enjoyed our visit and had great weather. Next to a working farm so there can be animal noises.

Outstanding accommodation
We were lucky enough to get away prior to lockdown no.2! Our accommodation requirements were: location close to a pub, cosy with a log burner and not too far away from the coast. It ticked all of these boxes and more! The best equipped self catered accommodation we have ever stayed in. Hosts Lynne and Steve gave us a warm welcome and were on hand with plenty of local knowledge including the best places to eat! An important part of our holiday!! Lovely area to stay with stunning scenery and plenty of great walking routes to explore. Would highly recommend!

First class rural property
The cottage had everything you could possibly need and was furnished to a very high standard. Upon arrival it was spotlessly clean. It's spacious. There are several facilities for sitting outside. There is also a games room. The owners are friendly and welcoming and provided advice about the area and the generous welcome pack which included milk, eggs, coffee etc. The cottage is situated in the middle of very scenic countryside and you will occasionally hear the comings and goings of the nearby farm.
