Got a good deal at the last minute for an overnight stay in Aviemore. First issue I had was that I would be arriving after dark and I had never been to the hotel or resort before. Why is this a problem?
Well, upon driving into the resort I noticed that the road signs were unlit so I couldn't see directions to the hotel. Also when I stopped to see the signs that were there it still wasn't obvious where my hotel was! Eventually found it only to discover it closed! Tried phoning the contact number from Expedia which didn't work. Found the resort number on line and was told I was booked into a different hotel in the resort (which was also difficult to find due to lighting/signage/one way system issues).
Hotel check in was fine and room itself was very nice. Down to on-site restaurant for an evening meal which was nice but expensive. Service was slow so be prepared to wait a while. As a price reference a bottle of Bulmer cider was £5.00.
Next morning had a good breakfast from a substantial hot and cold buffet service. Even got gluten free toast!
Check out was quick due to having no additional costs although the receipt I got indicated a total cost £20.00 less than the Expedia charge. Queried this to be told by the receptionist that the £20.00 must be the Expedia fee. Unsure if this is true but don't remember having this issue before.
Overall a nice hotel but difficult to navigate resort and restaurant is expensive.
Actually booked the Morlich hotel but when we arrived we found we were upgraded to an executive room in the Highland hotel . Room was very comfortable and really quiet at night time . Breakfast was excellent , with plenty of choice.
We'll certainly return sooner rather than later
This hotel is has changed greatly in the last 15 years. It definately needs updating. My main complaint is the dinning room which is quite the grimmest restaurant I have ever been in especially at breakfast time.
It is in a wonderful situation overlooking the Cairngorms, near Loch Morlich. It is a shame it's full potential has not been exploited.
What a beautiful place. Aviemore is particularly beautiful and the B&B is really quite lovely and very well thought out. Adrian was very helpful and accommodating and his young lad Jack was quite the character. To top it off it snowed so what a wonderful stay we had. Thank you
P.s. The galaxy hot chocolate sachet was a bonus.
We arrived later in the evening and thought that we had missed food, but the staff were extremely accommodating and offered us the full menu - which was first rate. Fresh ingredients and well prepared. We ate in the bar area and our dog was made very welcome. Our room was very comfortable and clean and our dog was allowed to stay with us.
Throughout our stay, the staff were very welcoming and chatty - we would definitely go back.

The breathtaking Cairngorms National Park provides stunning scenery for Aviemore, which lies to the northeast of the mountainous area. A fantastic base for exploring the vast surroundings, Aviemore offers a range of outdoor activities. Those seeking adventure can go whitewater rafting or ski the Cairngorm Mountain, whilst those looking for a relaxing stay can simply soak up the views.
