Uncomfortable, noisy, dirty

This hotel looked decent online, but the photos of this hotel are very misleading. The room was small and very dated and the whole property other than the lobby could use a good cleaning. The mattress was thin and uncomfortable and the walls were paper thin and we could hear other guests clearly having a normal conversation in the hallway. The hotel also smelled awful, I think they replaced the stair treads recently with rubber and it smelled even in our room that was well away from the stairs. The dinner was horrible and both of our meals were missing elements that were never brought to us. There was a woman seated near us who hadn’t even received her Starter until we were almost finished with our meal. She had to go up to the staff and complain before her food was brought out. The breakfast was similar, we were seated and the server asked if we wanted coffee. We said yes, and the server never came back and nobody else checked on us. I also saw a cook refill a warming tray with beans and spilled then wiped the beans up with his hand and touched other food. All in all, pass on this hotel-you can likely find a bed and breakfast or another hotel with better service and cleanliness.

Run down, expensive, rooms were too warm and they charged for a towel for the pool.

We had a disappointing stay, as we found the leisure facilities very outdated and the sauna area dark and unpleasant. The Spa was closed for 3 weeks of maintenance. As we had chosen the hotel mainly because of the spa and pool, it would have been good to mention the maintenance period online. Food was good, but overall the experience wasn’t nice. The staff didn’t react in a reasonable way to our expressed disappointment.

Disappointed to spend so much time in queues, for checking in, swimming one evening, and one morning for breakfast, but it was the Easter holidays and very busy. Room good. Evening buffet meal not great. breakfast

We had booked on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis. Our room was comfortable and clean. Our dinner was most disappointing as it was buffet style - the choices were poor and included pizza, fish (type unspecified), roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding but no roast beef. We did not attempt the desserts as they looked unappetising and we were sorely disappointed by that stage. The breakfast choice was good and was quite tasty. Location was lovely with lots to do and see but I would advice Brittania Hotels to continue with the standard given to Coylumbridge by the Hilton Group.

Great hotel, poor communication

Great family stay, food was perfect for kids albeit a bit basic for adults. Same could be said for entertainment but kids loved having a big room they could run about in. Hotel rooms very clean and well provided for. Big downside was communication. Tried to contact beforehand to confirm booking and reserve table for dinner. Emails went unanswered and calls were just left on hold for 12 minutes (at 18p per minute). Eventually someone called me at 10pm the day before our stay and took dinner booking. Yet when we turned up at hotel they had no booking in their system. Delay was only 15 minutes but experience was very poor. Queues at reception were also very long and impression is one of lack of staff and customer consideration. Shame as hotel itself is very good and surrounding area lovely
