When it comes to hotels, I feel my expectations are quite reasonable: comfortable place to prepare for sleep, comfortable way to have breakfast, and in an upscale hotel, some way to relax with friends (also staying at the same hotel).
I was caught off guard how thoroughly a DoubleTree Suites by Hilton managed to fail at all three expectations.
Breakfast? Dining area is closed, the best you can have is food delivered to your room, so if you want to have another cup of coffee, or seconds, back to first floor you go. No cocktails or anything else facility-wise available to relax with friends either.
Want to read or work in the evening? Too bad, the light fixtures in the room blink, two of them, without rhythm or reason.
We tried to use the pool, and could not bring ourselves to partake - it has not been cleaned in a while.
Dishwasher noise level makes it absolutely impossible to sleep with it working.
On a positive side, the room was clean, and the personnel was friendly. But no matter what they did, they could not offset atrocious state of the facility itself. I cannot shed feeling that I was treated to essentially a Motel 6 experience in a notionally 4-star hotel by Hilton.
