Definitely NOT a 5 star hotel! Posted 15-Sep-2015
I booked via the Expedia app using my iPhone, I decided to choose a superior room with balcony view which I assumed based on cost, would have a view of the Acropolis. Not the case! We arrive at the hotel at check in time which was 2pm. I asked while checking in if the room had the view I expected…it did not, instead the view was of the hill. OK fine, I let that slide as the description did just say, “balcony view”. We arrive to the room, only to discover the first problem. The door did not have a key card slider, instead I had to use a key manually to open/lock the door. Upon walking into the room, it was not to our liking at all. It was dated, crammed and simply put, for a 5 star hotel I was expecting more. We discussed the room and how disappointed we were, so we decided to downgrade to another room. I expressed my disappointment to the front desk. They sent up someone to move us to another room. To our surprise, they gave us a much nicer room with the view we wanted. Great! Initially we were very excited as the room was more modern and it had the view we wanted, but after spending two nights we had a list of issues which we strongly feel we want to share so others can be aware. Hopefully the review is seen by the hotel as well, and they can make the proper adjustments to truly identify with 5 stars. Unfortunately, there is a character limit and I cannot add a detailed list of issues...I will post on tripadvisor.com.
