As Canadians travelling to Greece for the second time, we were aware that drainage issues are common. However, the Hera hotel seems to be impacted a little more than other places we have stayed, at least on one end of the hotel. Management would do well to instruct guests to avoid having a bath, as it leads to significant flooding. It clearly wasn't the first time as the floor had noticeable water damage outside of the bathroom and into the hall carpet. After our room flooded (bathroom and bedroom) we asked and were given a new room (on another floor), and noticed the same water stains on the carpet at the same end of the hall. If you have short hair and only take showers then you shouldn't have an issue, but with longer hair, there was soap and water bubbling out of the drain on the bathroom floor every time I showered. Other than that it was a lovely hotel; nicely decorated rooms, polite staff, and good location.

This hotel exceeded all of our expectation. The staff were fantastic, the location was fantastic and the eating options both in the hotel and nearby were delicious. I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Athens.

The hotel was located close to the Metro and in a nice area. Lots of restaurants a short walk away. Room had a balcony with a good view of the street. The room was a bit tired and in need of a few minor repairs. A broken shower head and towels were a bit shabby. The heater/air conditioner didn't work but it wasn't needed in December.

Hera Hotel is perfectly situated for easy access to the sites in Athens. There are tons of eating opportunities around the hotel. Staff was friendly and kind, they offered laundry services or you could do your own laundry down the street. Plenty of closet space and comfortable beds.

This is our second stay at the Hera Hotel. Pretty facility, good breakfast, but the best thing is the location. Great views of the Parthenon from our balcony, easy walking distance to the Acropolis and it’s museum, and many local restaurants just up the street.

Second time staying here. Great location. Staff is great. The only thing I wish was better was the comfort of the mattresses. They are slightly hard.

Amazing location. Small rooms. When I checked out I was asked / it was suggested I leave a 5, 10 or a 20 percentage on top of the total room bill as a tip to the staff. I have never been asked that in any other hotel in the world ever. I was traveling on my American passport. My friend who traveled on his UK one , checked out 2 minutes earlier and was not asked. I did leave a tip because the staff were friendly and great but I found it off putting that a suggested charge was added.

Most of the guests request to offer a tip and for convenience the POS has a parcentage option. Of course it can be waived. Your friend paid with a different card, thus a different POS credit card machine that doesnt have this option of percentage. I wish to clarify that it is not something that we ask and definetely we wouldnt do it according to our guests nationalilty. The check in process was awkward, this a 4 star hotel and you have to open your own doors, bring your own luggage all the way up to your room in what seemed the slowest elevator en Athens. In addition, I had to explain what type of reservation I had made, the fact I was a VIP platinum member and they honestly didn’t care. The gave me a standard room with 2 twin beds that moved apart when you simply moved in bed. The bathroom was so tiny you could barely get in the shower without tripping over the toilet. When I got to the room, The mini fridge was opened, hot and empty. Except for the nice lady and man the following morning after we checked in (at the front desk ) , most other employees acted as if there were bothered you had a question or needed assistance with city logistics. We stayed at the Athens Gate a few nights before, my recommendation is for the hotel management to stay there to learn what proper and good service looks like and apply it to the Hera hotel. Regarding your comments on the VIP Expedia member, please note that we have several daily requests from all our guests, direct and through partners . During high season, unfortunately, it is difficult to offer upgrades to all guests, due to n lack of availability. Your reservation was for a Standard room, which is either with 1 king bed or 2 twin beds. Our bathrooms, are considered regualar size for the rooms that we offer. All our rooms, are equipped with a mini fridge, where you can purchase your own drinks. We do offer complimentary waters upon arrival. Regarding your comments on our employees, its strange to read that you felt like that, as we usually receive excellent comments on our hospitality, service and guest assistance . Once again thank you for staying with us, and hope that we shall have the pleasure to welcome you again and stay on one of our bigger room categories. Thank you

This hotel is great for a trip to Athens. It is across from the Acropolis Museum and 5 minutes walk to one of the entrances to Acropolis. There are many restaurant options from the more touristy type to local restaurants. The breakfast is delicious. The rooms are small but you don’t go to Athens to stay in the hotel, right!? The rooftop bar has a beautiful view of the Acropolis. The bed is the best and the room is always clean. Great option in Athens!

AC did not work as it is not the season to turn it on yet. Food was ok. Staff terrible. At breakfast they spoke about every guests. Check in: horrible. Expedia indicates 2pm, hotel says it is 3pm. Staff did not say hi, explain breakfast or anything, they did not offer a map. Horrible experience

Great location, 2 min walk from Acropolis station - a good selection of little restaurants / shops on door step Easy access to everywhere Reception team fabulous - friendly and helpful Breakfast very good selection and breakfast team helpful Room spacious for one (single use of small double room) and although no view (didn’t ask for one) it meant at back of hotel so very quiet. Would totally recommend without hesitation
