We felt like we had stepped back in time when we walked up the stone stairs to our two story room; yet with all the modern amenities desired by today's traveler. We loved the mineral pools in Roman bath spa museum - very cool experience! We enjoyed a great dinner at the hotel's restaurant Eat Out - contemporary Italian cuisine.

Comfortable, well located hotel with ensuite air conditioned rooms. We booked it on price and location and found it to be very good value. The rooms are air conditioned but not excessively so: it is centrally controlled but you can phone reception if you need it on for longer. There is a verify comfortable lounge next to the bar and the (included) breakfast buffet has lots of choice.
The restaurant is good for dinner as well, and reasonably priced, but be careful with the wines - the selection is massive but includes lots of verify expensive wines. We asked the wine waiter to recommend something local, which he did; but when we said we didn't plan to pay 50 euro a bottle he was very happy to make an alternative suggestion, also local, that only cost 19 and which we found to be delicious.
The hotel is on a steep street so take that into account if you can't walk too well but other than that it's absolutely ideally located for touring the old town.

What a charming hotel! Our room was clean and comfortable. We were allowed to check in early when our train arrived well before check-in time. Each morning Mr.Berti made us each an espresso to order then would offer another when we had finished. We enjoyed eating our breakfast on beautiful patio. The food selection was fine. It was typical of the places we stayed. We hope we can stay here again some day.

The hotel is located about 15-20 minutes walk outside the centre of Assisi, there is a local bus with a stop just outside the hotel gate, the hotel displays the timetable and sells tickets which are 1.30 euro. Taxis are readily available. Our room had a lovely view of the valley below from the balcony. Its bathroom had a small nightlight which is a very sensible idea. The room was very comfortable and tastefully decorated. We arrived as a group of five people having walked on the Francigena way and were a bit late for dinner the first night. All the staff were very helpful and this was no problem. The food is nice, and there is plenty of choice on the breakfast buffet. There is a good sized swimming pool. At the time of our visit at the end of September, it had cooled a bit but was still pleasant. Parking is available. The hotel is cleverly designed to fit unobtrusively into the local surroundings but it means the dining room is below ground level, its brightly lit and contains several large landscape paintings to compensate.

This was a safe, clean and small but comfortable spot very close to the Basilica San Francesco. I wish Expedia had provided more clear directions, as it is a little difficult to find and SOME walking on steep hills could have been avoided. There is no view here. The room we had was a little dark but clean and conveniently located to the town and the Basilica. The man who runs it is very kind and helpful and you can see he takes pride in this small hotel. NOT a place for someone who has trouble walking; steps up to the lobby and steps up even further to your room AFTER the steep walks of the town.

This famous place of pilgrimage is the burial site of St Francis, one of the best loved of all Catholic saints. The ambitious basilica built soon after his death and decorated with superb frescoes by Giotto, Lorenzetti, and Martini has been fully restored after a devastating earthquake in 1997. St Clare, Francis’s follower and companion, is buried in a separate church bearing her name.
