A pleasant hotel in a great location
We stayed during a serious hot spell, and very few hotels in Europe have air conditioning, but the night breeze from the beach cools things nicely. Of course, there was a rock concert on that beach that night, so we didn't get to sleep very early. Ear plugs would have been helpful. The room is clean and roomy enough. Breakfast was very good. Fresh bread on your reserved table will come in different types, from farmer bread to croissants. Friendly, helpful staff. Free parking was available about two blocks away. Pay parking was even closer.

Stayed there one night. It is very well situated near the beach but no view. Parking is challenging; we went into public lot and was told that after 7 pm the gate opens and so long as you leave before 9 am the next day, it is free. We decided to wait until 9 pm, leave and park on the street which has no limits for length of stay and were able to get all the sightseeing done without paying for parking. The stairs to the room are incredibly small and so we left suitcases in the car and just brought up a duffel bag for all 4 of us. Beds not very comfortable but manageable. Agree with others who said walls are thin and can hear people in other rooms. We didn’t have breatkast there and walked over to a nearby hotel and were able to have breakfast for about same price with an incredible ocean view and better food selection.

Comfy bed & large bathroom. We stayed n the family room. Convenient to D-Day sites. We paid extra for breakfast ~ Wonderful. They had a reserved table waiting for us. We began our tour of D-day sites from here. Worked out really well. Would stay here again.

An ok place just to crash for the night
It was what it was advertised as a two star hotel. It was adequate for two blokes doing a tour of the Normandy WWII sites and museums but I wouldn't take my wife there.

Got in very late , the French gentleman greeting us was so friendly , cheerful and welcoming . Right downtown by shops , cafes and beach . Pizza in the hotel cafe was excellent . Very quaint and I believe built in 1898.

Base to visit historical D-Day beaches
Wonderful picturesque village on the water with great restaurants and shops and historical attractions. Hotel is typical old construction house style with narrow stairwells but has charm and works great. Walking trail along cliff goes all the way to Longues-sur-Mer battery; plan 3 hours total round trip for a healthy hiker. Hotel breakfast was a great way to start the day and worth it.

Normandy Beach visit.
Great location...our room had a view of the Ocean. Cute little town right on the beach. Internet was not working in our room as advertised..when I mentioned it to owner he pretty much blew me off..oh well..it worked in the hallway and downstairs. Very quiet peaceful town..if you are looking for more resaurants and activity..stay in Bayeux..

Well placed, but no tortillas.
It is conveniently located near the water which is nice for walking in beach at night. The choices of eating places are very limited and somewhat pricey. It is well-placed in town. We had a great view down the walking street and to the museum. The only strange part was that it always seemed to smel like freshly cooked corn tortillas. I never actually saw any tortillas there.

Nice hotel but no parking - had to pay to park
Nice hotel and was central. No parking and it would have cost less to book on the day as per the advert on their window. The room was at the back and had no view what so ever. Felt we had been had by booking early as there was no one else around and it was quite - on plus side the breakfast was good and the staff were friendly.

Awful but fortunately not typical of Normandy
The room was described as 'luxury'. Nothing could be further from the truth. It was a dirty, poky, noisy room at the top of a very narrow steep spiral staircase. The bathroom was basic in the extreme with small towels and a barely functioning shower. There was insufficient wardrobe and cupboard space and inadequate lighting. Free Wi-Fi was included - it did not work. Free car parking was advertised but the hotel has no car park. There is a town carpark which is free overnight about 100 metres away. Breakfast was basic with no buffet choices at 10 Euros extra. This was the first day of our honeymoon - what a nightmare! The remainder of our holiday in Normandy was superb.

Neat Hotel above Restaurant
This is a neat and quirky hotel with an excellent location. To get to your room with luggage can be a challenge. Very, very narrow spiral stairs....like climbing a ship's loft. We had an excellent view of the sea and slept well. Was a fun place to stay, but avoid if you are not up to the climbing challenge. We lucked out and found free parking on the street. Neighborhood is very safe.

What happened to the discount?
The stay was very good, but we would welcome feedback from Hotels.com.The room was a little on the compact size, given the room we had ordered, however, it was an old building. We paid 105 Euros - without breakfast, but the chart in the room showed the bedroom - without breakfast cost 95 Euros. So rather than a saving we had an additional cost of 10 Euros. Surely this cannot be right? The staff were superb and the location fantastic, near the main square and D Day museum with sea views.

Great location in the heart of Arromanches. Check out the italian place Le Bistro d'Arromanches located on main pedestrian only street. The room was spacious with a huge bathroom however the wifi did not work and our room was above kitchen which was really really loud so would be wary of thst in future. Overall a good find for the price.

Cute hotel next to beach
We had a room with a superb view of the beach (had to go up some narrow steps to make it up there though). We really enjoyed the room and general location right on the Main Street and steps away from the beach. However the wifi didn't work and there was no real free parking. We were able to find some parking so it worked out, but it wasn't with the hotel.

What a wonderful discovery, this hotel & town. Our room had a view of the carousel & ocean; was small but clean & completely adequate. If u are impaired in any manner, the very narrow stairs & hallway will not accommodate you. Would recommend to friends.

A good jumping off point
The ad said there was free parking at the hotel, which is true, except it's street parking and we arrived on a national holiday so there was nowhere to park and the hotel was not able to provide parking. The Internet never worked in our room either. Breakfast was lovely but overpriced. The location was great and the room itself was clean.

Welcoming town centre hotel.
We stayed for one night as a stopover between the ferry and Brittany, and wished we could have stayed longer. The location is ideal for the beach, museum and town centre, with free overnight parking just across the road. Our room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was good. The stairway to the upper rooms could be an issue for those with large suitcases or mobility problems.

Great Location, Authentic Hotel
This hotel in right in the middle of the small town of Arromanches. Everything is steps away and a look out your window shows all the hustle and bustle of the town and the beach. I was doing a tour of the D-Day beaches so the view of the sunken Mulberry docks was quite nice and the history was very much there. I stayed in a more modern hotel the night before which was comfoprtable but was hoping for something more authentic fro the second night. It's like a small French Restaurant downstairs but then they walked me up a very thin flight of stair and then down a hallway to my room (11). I had to duck my head to get to my doorway but once in the room it was clean and comfortable. The room was quaintly decorated and the view was very nice. I also appreciated the modern bathroom fixtures in the room as there's no need to go rustic with that kind of thing. The only area they could improve on is that the internet does not easily reach the rooms. I had to huddle by the door to get any connection on my iPhone and my iPad wouldn't connect at all. Otherwise, It was perfect for me and left the next day with no problem. I'm pretty picky but I would recommend it and would stay there again.

Good overnight stay
The room we had (chambre 5) had a velux window, so no view. It was on the small side, but perfectly comfortable and eminently suitable for an overnight stay. Parking was in the main square a short walk away, and there was a charge up until 7 pm (I think) and from 9 am as well - but not overly expensive at all

Great sea view
We were given a room at the top of the hotel which was a somewhat tortuous route up narrow winding stairs to get there but worth the effort. The room was situated on the front corner of the hotel with a great view overlooking the coast. Bathroom looked as if it was newly tiled but the sink was very slow to drain away (but did eventually!). Hotel owners friendly and helpful and breakfast was very satisfying. Would stay there again if ever in Arromanches overnight. The Hotel is a shorter walking distance from the Musee de Debarquement and slightly longer uphill walk to the 360 degree D-Day ("100 Days") cinema - both very educational and well worth a visit if you are in the area for a few hours.

This hotel is basically an old house. Very well maintained. Had heard restaurant was good but open times was sporadic probably because it was not peak season. Location great to beaches. Great old town charm.
Arromanches is a quiet coastal town, central to D-Day historical sites if that's what you're there for. Hotel d'Arromanches makes an excellent base to tour from. This hotel is right in the heart of it. 1 min walk from hotel to beautiful beach great for walking at low tide or strolling along the seawall at high tide. Public parking available on adjacent block; free from 7pm to 9am. Nice hike up the hill to the east with fantastic views from the top. Very nice to walk around, day or night and soak up the ambiance of the old town. Shops and other restaurants in the same area within a moments walk. Hotels rooms and dining room nice and clean and still appear newly finished. I'm no food expert but enjoyed the meals there alot including the excellent continental breakfast. Staff very friendly. The only issue I had was that we could not connect to the WIFI. Owner explained that the solid masonry construction of the old building and the metal panel finish of the hotel kitchen blocks much of the signal. This is not a flashy downtown hotel but if you like a clean, quiet stay and old world character I highly recommend Hotel d'Arromanches!!

Excellent Hotel with fantastic view of Gold Beach
This hotel is independently run by a family who go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The meals were superb and even though we did not speak french very well they make a big effort speak in english. It overlooks the Day Beach with the remains of the Mulberry harbour and is fascinating place to stay. I have an artificial leg so negotiating the narrow spiral stairs to the room needed a bit of care but I would ask for a lower room if I was more disabled. The room had a fantastic view of the sea front though. The bathroom is a little tiered but all worked very well. We enjoyed it much more than the 4 star hotel we had stayed at in Paris a few days previously!

Good base to explore Normandy
The hotel is right in the center of the little town of Arromanches - one block back from the beach - plenty of free parking nearby -hotel staff is friendly and the room was clean and fairly large - only problem was it was at the top of two very narrow and steep staircases. - I would certainly stay here again and the hotel is within walking distance of everything in this seaside town and all of the Normandy D-Day sights and the town of Bayeaux

Arromanches
The hotel has the feel of a bed and breakfast. We stayed in a room in the attic and although the stair case was a bit tight, the room was wonderful. The staff/family are very gracious and accommodating. The town itself is an amazing setting. The hotel and the town do close up quite early but I guess that's not unexpected in a small town setting. When all the other eating esablishments closed the pub just up the street was open and the owner was kind enough to feed us.

D-Day Normandy beaches!!
We loved this "old" place. Thats what the owners called it. The hotel was charming. The people who run it were fantastic ( I think they were the owners). Our room was on the third floor and we had to climb a narrow spiral staircase to get to it, but we had an awesome view of the beach and the little village underneath us. And the owner carried my suitcases up for me. I wouldn't recommend it for handicapped people. The bed was very comfortable. If I were the owners, I would pull up the old carpeting on the floor and put down anything but carpet. That would be my only complaint. The room was a little musty, but we didn't mind, the open windows cleared the mustiness right up. I would stay there and recommend it to any of my friends. The restaurant was delicious for supper. We did not eat breakfast. It seemed a little high and was not included in the price of our room.

This hotel was very nice for the money. Staff was very friendly. It was on the beach and right in the middle of shopping and restaurants. Room was small but very clean. The only window was a skylight, but it did open and close, there was a shade that would open and close as well. I was very satisfied with our stay, especially for the money.

Good Hotel in a limited location
The hotel was simple, but very accommodating. The staff was very friendly and helped me in my non-French communication. The hotel is in a great location for enjoying the town of Arromanches, which has great WWII history for the British military, but the only negative has to do with the overall location of the hotel with regard to my travel plans. It was far from the ferry port and it costs 60 Euros to split a taxi to go to the hotel at night. Once in the town, I was too far from the American military cemetery and Omaha beaches for walking, the bike rental place was closed, taxi was not a good option, and the tourism office didn't offer much assistance to explain my options.

We were perfectly satisfied. Room was clean, adequate size with average to good facilities for the price bracket. The location is very central and convenient to shops, attractions and seafront, though this does mean parking is about five minutes walk away to find a free long stay car park. The outlook from our room was very restricted (no chance of a sea view!). We also felt the breakfast, if taken, was overpriced for what was available. Nevertheless, overall we had no complaints and enjoyed our stay.

Great town for purpose of visit and to serve as a base to visit D Day beaches and relevant museums but would stay at another hotel if visiting again. The evening meals were fair (The restaurant at Le Mulberry was far better) but ten Euros is a lot to pay for coffee rolls and croissants.
