Good central position

Posted 15-Sep-2017
Cons: More car parking
Location: We were visiting the First World War graves and museum in surrounding area so did not do anything in the town itself.
Only downside was the limited car parking facilities. Was not made clear that you needed to book a space. We had to park a little way from the hotel and carry luggage from there. We had booked this hotel because it was stated that it had an on site car park. Alas this was not to be in our case.

Lovely hotel.

Posted 12-Sep-2017
Pros: Very quiet. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
Cons: The room could do with some more lighting - it was a little dim for my tastes.
Location: Arras is a very convenient base from which to visit World War 1 sites. Beware that wheelchair and disabled access in this area can be difficult.
Lovely hotel within walking distance of the main squares in Arras. Very quiet. Be sure to book parking as it is very limited. Very good disabled access.

close to centre of city

Posted 23-Aug-2017
Pros: we liked the "French" feeling of the hotel, the traditional
Cons: the hotel's restaurant was horribly overpriced and the food was less than average...
although the hotel was a "typically French" hotel, which is what we wanted, it was definitely not worth the visit

We thought we had arrived at" Faulty Towers"

Posted 06-Jul-2017
Pros: Nothing, apart from the building itself.
Cons: A total retraining of the staff
Location: Arras is a handy town for the channel crossing, particularly the return to the UK.
The only person around was a Receptionist. She immediately harangued us for parking without a reservation. Because there was a disabled slot empty and I have a badge, we parked there. She did eventually emerge from behind her desk and helped with our luggage, and showed us to our room We booked a table for dinner, and presented ourselves bang on time!! The 1 waiter proceeded to deal with us, but it took 1 hour before any food appeared and another hour to complete. the meal .

Pros: Location and character of building. Helpful staff
Cons: Additional charge for breakfast rather high. Curtains in room need replacing.
Location: Close to many of the bars, restaurants and attractions of the town.
Hotel in a pleasant, quiet location within easy walking distance of town centre. Characterful building. Helpful reception staff. Safe parking for vehicles for daily fee. Breakfast available for additional charge.

Nice hotel in center of Arras

Posted 06-May-2017
We spent 3 days in Arras in order to visit some of the sites of the WW1 battlefields and found the Hotel de l'Univers to be ideally situated, walking distance to the train station(if you don't have heavy suitcases) and the beautiful and lively Place de Heroes,Tourist Bureau and Grand Place,as wellas restaurants.

Great location

Posted 30-Apr-2017 on Hotels
The hotel was very good with it's own parking at 10 euros a night - a bit pricey but worth it for the convenience. The restaurant set menu was very good at 20 euros for 2 courses plus complimentary appetiser. The only problem was the menu didn't really change and so we only ate there the one evening. A five minute walk into Place de Heros where the excellent tourist office is located and a market held every wednesday. Grand Place is just a couple of hundred yard from there.
