Small hotel in a newly renovated building in the ancient Roman area of Aosta run by the owner and his son. When the listing said no parking at the hotel they really meant it. Hotel is located right on an old Roman bridge and our GPS took us down some very narrow winding laneways to the area of hotel. Once there the owner was very helpful with our luggage and directing us to nearby free public parking. For people more familiar with Aosta and not relying on a GPS, the hotel is actually easy to find.
Great location - easy walking distance to the lovely town centre and some excellent Roman ruins.
Our room was moden, clean and comfortable. Small as typical in Europe.
Breakfast was included and fine given the small number of rooms.
Switzerland was only a short drive a tunnel away, so we took an easy day trip through the Grand St. Bernard Tunnel to visit Martigny.

"Beautiful hotel very convenient for skiing in Pila"
We stayed at the Relais du Berger for six nights in early January 2016. The location is a short drive (2-3 minutes) to the West of Aosta and is ideally located for a skiing holiday in Pila (the cable-car car park is 2 minutes by car or walkable along the riverside if you are feeling energetic). The hotel itself was beautiful and all the staff were very welcoming and friendly. We stayed in one of the apartments located 100m from the hotel. This is a short walk along to a neighbouring farm where there is a farm shop selling milk and cheese. Breakfast was in the hotel each morning (or there was the option of a basket delivered to your door before 7am). The self-service continental style breakfast was beautifully presented with an assortment of breads, cereals, cakes, cheeses, cold meats, juices and tea and coffee.
Our apartment was warm and had two separate bed rooms (one double bedroom, one room with bunk beds) and a large kitchen/livingroom area. There was also a small south facing balcony. The kitchen was well equipped with an oven, hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and all essentials were provided. There was a TV and good, high-speed wifi. There is a small shop directly opposite the hotel and a take-away pizzeria within 1 minute walk.
We really enjoyed our stay and hope to return again.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is family run and the staff were fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble and I've rarely stayed in a ski resort hotel where the showers worked properly but the showers here were as good as at home. Breakfast was continental, but we asked for boiled eggs which were provided at no extra cost. We noticed that other guests were having scrambled eggs and bacon. I would definitely go there again. In fact, if we ski in the same resort next year we will definitely use this hotel again.

Very nice cabin without the cabin feel. The cabin I stayed in had 2 beds with a moving dividing wall. Only minor trouble is that the modern bathroom can only be accessed from one bedroom so the dividing wall needs to be either kept open a little or moved to be accessed from the other "bedroom".
