The hotel is very chic and the rooms are nicely themed. Location is really close to Kinkerstraat and you can easily get to the museums or the downtown area by tram easily. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. My only gripe is that there was never any soap in the dispensers near the sinks, even though i brought it up twice. Not sure if that's maybe an Amsterdam thing? Otherwise, great.

It was such a great and unique experience, being not too far from all the museum's and experiences while being in such a quiet and beautiful area of the city. The staff were kind and helped point me in the direction of interesting places and food! They even gave me a little book to help find them all! 10/10, would stay again if I ever find myself back in Amsterdam!

Hidden Gem hotel south of the city, so is nice to get a chance to explore all of Amsterdam. Vondelpark nearby and is on route to the museums. We loved the coziness of our room and it’s quirky feel. The shared bathrooms were clean and well kept. We enjoyed the bar for drinks, but the only thing I would say is I wish water could have been accommodated for the rooms . Thank you to the friendly and helpful staff that made our stay comfortable

This was a simply divine holidaying experience for both of us with nothing to fault. From the off, the staff were friendly, amiable and dare i say it.... funny. The accomdation was spectacular and everywhere you looked you found more and more little quirky rooms all arpund the hotel, including an amazing library with spme hidden gems (and hidden rooms!) The food was also something like we had never experienced before; a full dining experience in the Kevin Bacon_ restaurant, serving some truly scrumptios Thai cuisine in the evening and a delightful twist for breakfast. A short walk away frpm the centre of Amsterdam with accessibility via trams, and of course bicycles. We would recommend this place at the drop off a hat. A true five star experience if ever we had one!

The staff is so awesome. Very helpful. The rooms are small but they dont feel too small at all. The bathrooms are super clean and offer a lot of privacy which was huge for us. For a hostel, this is really nice and clean. They have a cool bar too!

It has a unique set up inside and tram stops close by. It has a restaurant and bar on site and the staff were friendly and very nice. There is a shared bathroom facility that was clean and easy to use. I only stayed one night but I intend on returning in the future.

cool and quirky hotel without a/c
The hotel is quirky and conveniently located near a tram stop. However, my room was very small and unbearably hot during last summers heatwave. The room was just big enough for the bed, with no other furniture and only a fan for cooling. There was also no window to open for air. I would stay here again during the winter, but cannot recommend during the summer!

Check in was easy enough - although we did get hit with surprise fees that weren't mentioned in the booking (though if we did the research maybe this wouldn't be so surprising). The first real negative came at the hotel bar - the service was slow and the whiskey tasted like it has been watered down (Jameson isn't normally the best, but it definitely shouldn't taste like that). The next day the shared bathroom was completely out of toilet roll - this is pretty unacceptable and was a recurring issue throughout the whole stay. On toilet had a broken seat until the last night we stayed. The bed was somewhat comfortable, although this comfort was very limited - we were given one small pillow each, and when we asked for more, were told they didn't have any. The blanket sheet had a hole in it, the room had a window with constant light pouring in from above - there was not a single night that we slept well. Every towel, bedsheet, pillowcase and blanket had an RFID tag, which honestly felt a little ridiculous given everything else felt cheap. Overall, the "hotel" is incredibly average - we booked it because it was cheaper than the others at the time and looked quirky and fun, but really it just felt a bit like a prison cell.. though a prison cell may have actually been more luxurious. Was basically beside a tram stop though, which is nice. Not sure I can give the hotel credit for that though.

Cool place to stay!
The hotel (hostel) was fascinating and so much fun. If you’re looking for fancy, go to the Hilton. If you’re looking for a memorable experience, stay at Hotel Not Hotel. Loved the library. Loved Kevin Bacon. Beds were comfy. Staff was fabulous.

The hotel was an interesting and trendy place. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. The staff was friendly and tried to be helpful. However, our room, secret bookcase L, had a musty smell that we couldn't get rid of, probably due to poor ventilation. The bathrooms, which are shared with all guests, ran out of paper towels and toilet paper.

Please avoid booking and staying here !!
I wish there would be an option of -ve rating. Not good value for money and very bad customer service, in addition misleading advertisement. Apparently receptionist had no training how to talk and resolve customer query, very very unprofessional My room was just kind of a box, wall to wall a double bed and there was no other space. No desk , not bathroom, no cupboard, no drinking water, literally nothing but just a bed. I was flabbergasted. On the top receptionist was one of his kind, he told me this is not a hotel but kind of a hostle therefore we call it hotel not hotel !!! This is pathetic explanation of not providing basic service. Room was not cleaned. No iron , no iron board. Literally nothing but just a bed in room. When I let him know that in morning I need to attend a meeting and there require an iron and iron board he said I can't not find any iron therefore I can't do anything. I replied it doesn't solve my problem. I was accused of shouting while trying to convince him that he has to atleast pretend he is trying helping me? But very cold approach taken by staff. There was another couple at the reception he was also arguing with them and the lady was very very unsatisfied and annoyed too. I had to use sharing toilet. Shared toilet and bathroom was having open socket and cable are coming out from wall. Very big health and safety hazards. No shower soap all of them was empty, toilet were stinking . Very bad maintenance.

We had a great stay at this hotel, it’s quirky and fun! It was clean and and had everything we needed. Close to the hot spots and places we wanted to visit. Trams just outside. The food was delicious! Staff were friendly and helpful! I’d definitely recommend and make a return visit!

The location is convenient enough, a block or so away from a tram stop with direct connection to Centraal Statioon and walking distance to a street with tons of shops. Be warned though - this place has the tiniest hotel rooms you will ever see (basically a mattress surrounded by walls) and shared bathrooms. It caters to a young crowd who sometimes returns from the bars late into the night screaming and laughing and waking everybody up - to very sub-par enforcement by hotel staff. Other than that, the staff is friendly enough.

A very cute, artsy place to stay. However, this is definitely a place to stay less than 5 days. The dirty towels never got taken out nor the trash changed. It seemed like there was only one staff (who were all very kind and helpful) on the property at a time, so the latter comment makes sense. There was no air conditioning in the room, so the room got hot and stuffy. Overall not a bad stay but some basic type of lodging things that would have been nice.

We went in a busy weekend and there weren’t a ton of hotels, so my husband convinced me to settle for a hostel and it was a pretty cool experience. The grounds are clean, and it was a pretty cool place to stay, it wasn’t super accessible to the city center but we rented bikes to ride around the city so it worked fine. The hostel will rent you a bike for 18.50 a day, but you can get them about a half a mile away for only $10. There were not a ton of rooms available, so we’ve got a room that did not have a private bathroom. The shared bathroom wasn’t dirty, but it was toilet paper and soap and paper towels a lot of the time. We knew what we were coming into it we were paying far so it was fine, but I will say the rooms are super tiny and there is no air-conditioning so it gets pretty muggy at night. If you run a hot it can be a little difficult. I definitely would not recommend this stay for a couple, but this is a good spot for a solo traveler. I was just looking to stay for a day or so. The staff was really friendly and attentive, and I Kevin Bacon bar was amazing. The food was great and so was the service. The gentleman bartending gave us one of the house dishes for free, it was fried prawn cakes, and a sauce. So that was super nice, and it was awesome. The food was great. So are the cocktails!

Cute space. Great for a quick stay in Amsterdam. Very close to airport and walkable area. Don’t recommend the VW bus stay in hot weather as there is no AC only a small fan. Can get hot. Bathrooms were clean and overall space was quiet for a shared space hotel. Would return.

Really quirky but very clean and comfortable place with extremely helpful staff. Would definitely recommend it as a great place to stay. The bar on site had delicious Thai food at sensible prices.

This is a truly unique and quirky hotel at a great location. The neighbourhood is buzzing with lots of cafes, eateries and shops (plus Ten Katemarkt and De Hallen) within walking distance and excellent transport links both to the center and Schiphol. I'm not too keen on shared bathrooms in general but the common facilities were ample and squeaky clean whenever we needed to use them. The only little negative was the sinks being a bit too close together and placed right in front of the entrance of the bathrooms.

The property is very unique. It was very clean. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed. The staff was VERY friendly and helpful. The room was a bit small, but we knew that coming in. We were blessed to have a bathroom in our room; most don't. My only complaint is that the wifi service was so slow that it was essentially useless for uploading the files I needed to send home. I had to go out to local restaurants to get my work done. Other than that, we enjoyed it. And it was nice to have secure parking inside the garage lot (even if it did cost $35/ night).

The Room was amazing! We stayed in one of the hidden book shelf rooms. The facilities was great and clean. The staff are lovely and incredibly helpful.

Funky hotel made up of lots of hidden rooms, indoor camper vans, etc. We had a more conventional family room with a bathroom. Reasonable size (double plus two singles) but layout could have been improved to allow some storage (no wardrobe or shelves for clothes). Had a good sized bathroom whereas most other rooms have shared facilities. Library upstairs for chilling out and foyer next to Kevin Bacon bar/restaurant. We didn’t have breakfast at the hotel but did eat in the evening which was very good. Hotel was clean and service friendly although a little haphazard (took a few times of asking to get extras). Location is good - a calmer part of Amsterdam- and easily accessible by tram (7 or 17). Lots of eating/drinking options nearby and can also walk to the sights if you want.

Recently stayed here for 3 nights. Booked the poison ivy room for 2 adults. Staff were excellent and overall a safe stay. The room was awfully small, we had to take turns who was standing as we both couldn’t stand at the foot of the bed at the same time. My main concern was the lack of ventilation in the room, nil windows, nil aircon. It was very hot in the small room with a fan that was fixed to the wall not doing much. When I approached staff he advised to “just keep the fan running at all times” Overall a passable experience however probably wouldn’t return.

Most of the staff are nice and approachable but not all. The aesthetic outside the room was amazing but the inside is small and dirty. Floor seems like it has never seen a mop. No toilet rolls, when I asked the staff she just gave me the toilet roll without placing it in toilet roll lockbox - I just used it as it is as I don’t want to bother her anymore.
